New Mural At Cedar Park Little League Field Commack Middle School students began painting a baseball themed mural on the concession stand at Cedar Park Little League Field and completed the next day by several Commack High School Students. The mural also pays tribute to the late Brian Bonin, head coach at Commack. Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta said, “The students did a fantastic job and are very talented. I like that it was a team effort by the school to enhance a building for the Commack Little League. I grew up in Commack and have memories of playing ball here.”

Town Of Smithtown To Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event The Town of Smithtown Department of Environment and Waterways, in partnership with the Municipal Services Facility and the Department of Public Safety, will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, July 9th. This free event will be held at the Smithtown Municipal Services Facility, located at 85 Old Northport Road in Kings Park, from 7:00 AM through 3:00 PM. This event is for Smithtown Township residents only. Proof of residency will be strictly enforced. At the April 2022 event, Smithtown Municipal Services Facility employees worked in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Waterways Environmental Director David Barnes and Solid Waste Coordinator Mike Engelmann to safely secure over twenty eight (55) gallon drums, fifteen (1) cubic yard boxes, one miscellaneous container for

specialized hazardous waste, and two full 30 cubic yard roll-off containers loaded up with paints/solvents, etc. The exact weight collected was 29.1 tons (scale house net) in hazardous materials. Approximately 600 Smithtown households participated in this event. A portion of the wastes collected for manifested disposal include: waste oil based paints/ flammable paints, gasoline, paint thinners, waste gases, petroleum distillates, flammable solids, oxidizers liquids and solids, sodium/ potassium nitrates, acids, corrosives, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, misc. toxic liquids (i.e. Chlordane, etc.) and solids, lacquers, lithium batteries, battery acids and various other toxic compounds. ***The Town, in cooperation with Covanta, will be giving away $5 gift cards for the disposal of rechargeable batteries and propane tanks, 1 gift card per household, while

supplies last.*** DID YOU KNOW… Residents can also dispose of Electronic waste, free of charge, at the Town Recycling Center (also located at 85 Old Northport Road). Electronic Waste such as computers, printers, TV’s, monitors, automotive and household batteries can be dropped off during regular hours for proper recycling. Mulch is also available FREE OF CHARGE to residents. Smithtown residents can line up for Pre-packaged bags of mulch with a maximum of ten (10) bags per visit. We offer free loading of loose mulch into your pick-up or dump truck. (Cover required) The Smithtown Municipal Services Facility is located at 85 Old Northport Road in Kings Park, NY. Annual Jones Beach Volleyball Tournament The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that they are hosting the 44th Annual Jones Beach Volleyball Tournament comprised of 6-player coed teams. This event will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2022 and will be held rain or shine. The tournament will begin at 9:00AM on the volleyball courts at Central Mall Field 4 at Jones Beach State Park. The first round of matches will be played as a round robin. All teams are guaranteed to play seven games. The top two teams from each round robin bracket will advance on to the quarterfinals which will decide the two final teams. Cash prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams. The 3rd and 4th place teams

will receive merchandise prizes. Registration is FREE and is open until the roster is full. Players must be 14 years old or older to participate. Players of all skill levels are welcome to play and will be seeded accordingly. To register, please send your legible, completed application either by mail to Volleyball Tournament, P.O. SUM Coverage If you have had your current Auto insurance for two or more years, you may not be aware of your allowable SUM coverage. State law requires drivers to possess Liability insurance before they can put their car on the road. Liability insurance protects other drivers from a bad driver. This is often the most expensive portion of the policy premium. SUM coverage is Supplemental Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist coverage. It protects you from drivers who have no insurance or too little insurance. It costs a fraction of what Liability coverage costs. Yet, many people, especially those with older policies, have less SUM coverage than they are allowed. Recently enacted state laws require insurance agents to explain to new customers, how much SUM they may purchase. If your SUM does not equal your Bodily Injury coverage, talk to a licensed agent.

Often, your own Auto policy’s Property Damage coverage will pay for all property you may damage while in a rented car. This includes the rented car, itself. State laws vary as to how/ which insurance pays for Rental Car Coverage an accident in a rental car. Full coverage If your insurance agent ever told you, “Don’t worry. You have full coverage,” then it might be time to find a new agent. No two people will agree on what is meant by Full Coverage. CAR WASH FOR A CAUSE -Students, faculty and parents at St. James Elementary School got soapy on Monday, June 6, for the Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation. The students, faculty and parents hosted a car wash and raised $1,610 for the foundation, which raises awareness of brain arteriovenous malformations. Paige Elizabeth Keely passed away in 2018 at the age of 6 from an undiagnosed brain arteriovenous malformation. Paige was a first grader at St. James Elementary School.
