Hair We Share is a nonprofit organization started by Suzanne Chimera and Dean Riskin. Their goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of those suffering hair loss due to medical conditions. Make Election Day Go Smoothly

While Election Day is an exciting time, voters may find it frustrating if they do not take steps to ensure things go smoothly when they head to the polls. The following tips can help voters prepare for Election Day. Confirm your polling location. Polling locations may have changed since last year, and voters who have moved in the past 12 months may now have to vote in a new location. Voters can contact their local board of elections or visit www.Vote411.org to confirm the correct polling locations for them to cast their votes.

Voters should learn the hours when the polls are open so they do not arrive too early or too late to vote.

Bring photo identification. Voter identification laws vary by state, but voters who want to avoid hassles or holdups may be able to do so by bringing current photo identification with them to the polling place.

While such identification is not necessarily a requirement, voters who bring along a driver’s license or state identification card may get in and out of the polling place more quickly than those who do not.

Voting on Election Day is a privilege that voters should not take lightly. Taking certain steps in the weeks ahead of Election Day can make it easier for voters to cast their ballots.

Confirm registration. Voters can confirm that they have registered to vote by contacting their local board of elections in advance of Election Day. Sometimes voters’ names may not appear on the registration list when they arrive to vote, even if they previously registered. Poll workers can help voters who find themselves in such situations. But voters who want to avoid such hassles on Election Day can confirm their registration beforehand.

It recognizes when viruses, bacteria and other foreign invaders enter or compromise the body, and then takes action to prevent illnesses from taking over. The average person can help his or her immune system do its job more effectively by making the immune system as strong as it can be.

Harvard Medical School says that diet, exercise, age,

and psychological stress may affect immune system response. Certain lifestyle choices can promote a strong immune system. ·Get adequate sleep.

Doctors believe sleep and immunity are closely tied. A study of 164 healthy adults published by the National Institutes of Health found those who slept fewer than six hours each night were more likely to catch a cold than people who slept for more than six hours. Aim

for adequate rest each night to keep your body in top form. ·Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables supply the powerhouse antioxidants that are essential for protecting a body against free radicals. Free radicals may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Serve fruits and/or vegetables with every meal. ·Consume fiber and fermented foods. Fiber

can help feed the gut microbiome, which is linked to a robust immune system. The microbiome also may prevent harmful pathogens from entering the body through the digestive tract. Data also suggests that eating more fermented foods can further strengthen and populate healthy bacteria in the gut. ·Exercise regularly. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day, advises the American Heart

Association. The U.S. National Library of Medicine says physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways.

Exercise causes changes in antibodies and white blood cells. These antibodies and white blood cells circulate rapidly, so they may detect illnesses earlier than they would if you do not exercise.

That could be why he found 26 percent of the top male players in table tennis are lefties. And sports like baseball and cricket are dominated by left-handed players.

Health Risks And Benefits According to a 2010 study

published in the journal Pediatrics, researchers found those who were left-handed had an increased risk for dyslexia, ADHD and certain mood disorders. It could be tied to the hemispheres of the brain and how 30 percent of left-handed people are partial to the right hemisphere or have no dominant hemisphere for language functioning.

Conversely, lefties can bounce back from stroke or other brainrelated injuries more readily than righties, according to data

On September 14 a new Boy Scout Troop 68 had there first outdoor meeting at Manor Farm.

Back in June during the pandemic The Rotary Club of Huntington had agreed to be the charter of the new Boy Scout Troop 68.

The Troop was to meet inside the Walt Whitman High School using the Cafeteria in September.

However, the pandemic

has made it challenging for the new Boy Scout Troop.

They received notification from the school district that they would not be allowed to use the facilities, apparently none of the school districts are able to host any outside activities.

So the Boy Scout troop made a clear choice to meet outside at Manor Farm in Huntington on September 14, working with limited

daylight they had to make the meeting time earlier at 6:30 pm until 7:45, with head lamps they opened with a flag ceremony and will continue meeting outside at various parks, Not sure what will happen when it gets to cold outside to meet, they will see what happens . In the meantime they will continue to Scout On.

Elwood Board Of Education Recognizes Amazing Staff to serving the district’s special education students.

Her efforts and dedication led to the implementation of programs, such as Life Skills, Job Coaching and she was instrumental in the creation of the Alternative High School for secondary students with school phobia.

“Elwood students with the greatest needs have their greatest advocate in Dianne Wilkinson,” Dr. Bossert said.

Following those remarks, both Mrs. Kelly and Ms. Scudieri were invited on stage and were presented with plaques commending them for their service to the district.

For more than a decade, Mrs. Kelly has generously volunteered her time as a member and former president of the district’s Special Education Parent Teachers Association. For years, she has organized fundraisers, secured informative speakers for students and families and fostered activities to build a support network for parents of students with special needs.

“She believes in the district’s focus on the whole child and supports programs that promote inclusion and equity,” Dr. Bossert said.

At the meeting, Assistant Superintendent for Business Lorraine Dunkel thanked Ms. Scudieri for

being her “right hand woman” for over 19 years. As the district’s account payable clerk, Ms. Scudieri is responsible for processing invoices, as well as assisting with all purchase orders. She also serves as the president of the Secretarial Association and has worked closely with district administration to promote positive working relationships. Her colleagues describe her as a “true professional who brings honesty, integrity and an incredible work ethic to her position.”

At its meeting on Sept.

10, the Elwood Board of Education recognized four outstanding individuals for their unwavering dedication to the Elwood community.

Congratulations to Lisa Gorman, Donna Kelly, Donna Scudieri and Dianne Wilkinson for earning 2020 Awards for Excellence from SCOPE Education Services.

Ms. Gorman and Ms. Wilkinson, both recent retirees, were unable to attend the meeting; however, the board did not allow for their contributions to go unnoticed. For 21 years, Ms. Gorman served as an ENL teacher at Elwood Middle School, where she worked diligently to advocate for her students and encouraged them to strive for excellence. She was also instrumental in implementing the Teachers College Reading, Writing program.

“Lisa is highly respected by her colleagues, administration, students and community members,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bossert said.

“She is a leader, mentor and friend to all.”

Ms. Wilkinson, the district’s former executive director for special education, left big shoes to fill upon her retirement last year. For 30 years, she has tirelessly dedicated herself
