Massapequa Kiwanis to Host 14th Annual Bocce BBQ Fundraiser The Massapequa Kiwanis will host its 14th Annual Bocce BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Kiwanis Log Cabin at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa. The rain date is September 26. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the bocce competition starting at 11 a.m. The event will feature bocce competition, a bagel breakfast, an all-day BBQ, beer, wine and soda, raffles, entertainment, and cash prizes for first- and second-place teams. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the Town Board joined with the Vinny’s Army organization to officially proclaim the month of September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the Town of Oyster Bay. Vinny’s Army is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families. The creation of Vinny’s Army was inspired by the courageous battle faced by the Cusumano family of Massapequa, when their son Vinny was shockingly diagnosed with cancer in October of 2022. Just 10 years old at the time, Vinny was living the life of a regular kid finishing up elementary school, playing sports and spending time with his friends and family. That’s when Vinny’s Army was
