In addition to the free concert featuring Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band, the ultimate beach party tribute band to Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney, and the Zac Brown Band, the day of free family fun will feature marine and outdoor exhibits, a children’s snapper derby, police boat demonstrations and much more! Receiver Pravato Advises Late General Taxpayers Of Last Chance
Veolia, the company responsible for protecting Nassau County’s south shore environment through its operation of Nassau County’s wastewater treatment facilities, is launching the inaugural United Veterans Network Fundraiser to be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh, NY, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Proceeds from the benefit will go to America’s VetDogs, a Long Island based 501(c)(3) that helps pair veterans with service dogs.

Recently, they opened their newest Family Room at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Stony Brook Hospital, which will serve as a respite area for parents and families caring for a newborn in the NICU receiving lifesaving treatment.

The room is the second at Stony Brook Hospital. Ronald McDonald House opened a Family Room in the Stony Brook Children’s Hospital before the COVID pandemic. Both rooms are staffed entirely by volunteers from around Long Island.

Town & Restaurants Launch Oyster & Clam Shell Recycling Initiative
OYSTER & CLAM SHELL RECYCLING INITIATIVE - Officials demonstrate the process of the shell recycling program – when you shuck it, don’t chuck it, put it in the bucket!
Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino, members of the Town Board and local restaurant owners today announced an innovative, new shell recycling initiative to strengthen our local marine environment. Under this program, the Town seeks partnerships with local restaurants and other entities to collect oyster and clam shells from dinner plates and kitchen preparation tables. Town aquaculturists regularly pickup shells from local partners and deliver them to an environmental curing facility. Once ready for deposit into waterways, the shells will be strategically placed at the bottom of local Oyster Bay and Cold Spring harbors.
“The shells from your dinner plate provide an excellent source of habitat for young shellfish to grow as they offer protection from predators and weather conditions,” said Supervisor Saladino. “My administration is committed to improving water quality, expanding the shellfish population and bettering our environment. This Oyster and Clam Shell Recycling initiative expands upon our ongoing efforts by recruiting local restauranteurs to recycling their shell-waste and better our harbor.”
