Receiver Pravato Advises Late
General Taxpayers Of Last Chance
To assist property owners who missed the August 10th deadline for paying their 2023 General taxes, Town of Oyster Bay Receiver of Taxes Jeffrey Pravato reminds residents that they can still pay the bill August 31st with the State mandated 2% late payment penalty while avoiding additional interest and fees from accruing on their property.
Late payers should immediately contact the Receiver’s office at (516) 624-6400 if they did not receive a second notification with a delinquent tax bill. Payments postmarked after August 31st cannot be accepted since the collection warrant will have expired. Those payments must be sent to the Nassau County Treasurer at 1 West Street, Mineola, New York 11501.
In September, the Nassau County Treasurer will be mailing notices to all property owners with taxes in arrears.
Receiver Pravato advises homeowners who fall under those circumstances to contact the Nassau County Treasurer at (516) 571-2090 to determine the amount due. They may also visit the Nassau
County Treasurer’s Office at 1 West Street in Mineola.
Receiver Pravato noted, “Taxpayers in the Town of Oyster Bay are already paying some of the highest property taxes in the nation, and I want to make sure that our residents do not pay more out of pocket than they have to.”

Seaford’s Band Bringing Beach Vibes To 2023 Show
The Seaford High School Marching Band’s performances will mostly take place in the fall, but their show will certainly have a summer feel. At the annual marching band camp, which took place from Aug. 7-10, students learned the music and choreography for this
year’s show, “High Tides and Viking Vibes.”
The nine-minute arrangement is all about music of the beach, and song selections include the “Jaws” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme songs, “California Girls” and “Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys,
“Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffett and “Soak Up the Sun” by Cheryl Crow. There are plenty of props with beach chairs, towels, surf boards and inflatable sea creatures.
With about 90 students in the band and color guard, it’s the largest group in a decade, said
Christopher Coniglio, codirector of the band with Dr. Anthony Romeo. That includes 35 freshmen, a sign of the marching band’s growing popularity. The band will perform its show during halftime of the four home football games, at the Seaford Historical Society’s Fall Festival and
at the annual Newsday Marching Band Festival at Mitchel Field. This year’s drum majors are Grace Costello and Dylan Wong. The color guard captains are Megan Bloom, Megan Bowles and Emily Salce, and the band captains are Emma Baldwin, Jojo Bello, Kieran Calderaro,
Samantha Ferraro, Kate Rosario and Eric Zhang.
In addition to Mr. Coniglio and Dr. Romeo, students worked with music teachers Nicholas Coacci, Daniel Krueger and Barbara Sherwin, and drum line instructor Frank Battista to perfect their 2023 show.
