“Entertainment for a Saturday Evening” at the Seaford Public Library Summer 2021 The Seaford Public Library is excited to welcome back its outdoor concert series presenting its “Entertainment for a Saturday Evening” after a year long hiatus due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Town Partners With Team Boomer To Host Shoe Collection Drive Oyster Bay Town Councilman Tom Hand and the Town Board recently announced that the Town will partner with Team Boomer of the Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis to host a shoe collection drive. Residents are invited to donate any type of shoe in good condition at one of the following Drop-Off Locations: Town Hall North (54 Audrey Ave, Oyster Bay), Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa), the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center (1001 Stewart Ave, Bethpage), and the Hicksville Athletic Center (167 S. Broadway, Hicksville).

“The Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis is responsible for lifesaving work in our community. Not only does the organization fund some of the most talented scientists and researchers, who every day come closer to finding a cure for cystic

fibrosis, but they also provide critical resources and services for individuals currently living with Cystic Fibrosis,” said Councilman Hand. “All proceeds from this shoe collection drive will go directly to the foundation as they work toward their mission of heightening awareness, education and quality of life for those affected by cystic fibrosis, while also providing financial support to research aimed at finding a cure.”

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board will host the 7th Annual “Shootout for Soldiers” 24-Hour Lacrosse Benefit Game at the Town of Oyster Bay’s Field of Dreams, located on Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa.

This year’s round-theclock event begins on the morning of July 22nd at

9am and continues nonstop for 24 hours until July 23rd at 9am. The event benefits veterans and active duty military personnel.

The Long Island Air Force Association will conduct a special ceremony on July 22nd at 5:00 pm to honor Vietnam veterans and present them with medals that commemorate their service in the conflict.

The event features 24 continuous 1-hour sessions. The score is cumulative, resulting in unique scores for a lacrosse game with totals reaching into the hundreds.

Participants include children, adults, seniors, youth, high school, college players and veterans. Teams that accommodate players with special needs are also scheduled to play.

Town of Hempstead Community Concert Series with Shows Scheduled Across the Township It is time for residents to enjoy the sun and the music in the air as the Town of Hempstead brings back the free Summer Concert Series live and in person this year just in time for “Staycation.” Supervisor Don Clavin announced the kickoff of the expansive summer concert series which includes shows at community parks across America’s largest township.

Clavin announced the many bands that will be playing at various locations this summer along with Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Councilman Bruce Blakeman, Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr., Councilman Tom Muscarella, Councilman Chris Carini, Town Clerk Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll.

“We want all of our

residents to enjoy their summer here in the Town of Hempstead while enjoying music with family and friends,” stated Supervisor Don Clavin.

“There will be over 30 bands this summer over a span of 2 months in various locations ready to perform and help everyone get back into the rhythm of life and feel the beat of the music.”
