Students Spotlight Community Helpers
A community is filled with people who do many different jobs, and first graders at Seaford Harbor Elementary School recently explored those vital roles on their way to publishing a book. Students in Krista Clark’s class recently created a book about community helpers. Together, they came up with a list of important jobs and then each child was tasked with selecting
a community helper, doing research and writing about it. Students used digital books from Epic for their research.
But Ms. Clark’s class book also had a little mystery to it. The young authors wrote clues based on job responsibilities, attire and other characteristics. The reader can then guess what the job is and turn the page to find out. Each student drew an illustration of the community helper, which
included chefs, doctors, emergency responders, lifeguards, pilots, soldiers, teachers and more. For more than 20 years, Ms. Clark’s classes have published a book. Every year the topic changes and past books have been about the alphabet, animals and the Earth. Students could buy hard- or softcover copies of the book as a keepsake and the class also donated a copy to the Harbor School library.

“Entertainment For A Summer Evening” At The Seaford Public Library
The Seaford Public Library takes great pride in presenting its Summer 2023 “Entertainment for a Summer Evening,” our very popular series of outdoor concerts. In addition to this, we have our night time Outdoor Movie. All concerts are in partnership with the Lions Club of Seaford, the Seaford Chamber of Commerce, the Seaford Wellness Council and the Seaford Knights of Columbus Memorare Council #3476. For the tenth time, the series has a corporate sponsor, Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Over two decades the Seaford Library has been offering up top notch, quality musical entertainment from artists and performers from all musical genres including classic rock, doo-wop, country, and everything in-
between. All the concerts and the outdoor movie are free of charge and will most likely draw hundreds of people from the Seaford community and beyond. Free Salute To America Concert And Grucci Fireworks Show At Tobay Beach On
July 11th
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board invite residents to celebrate our nation at “Salute to America,” the Town’s upcoming free Concert and Grucci Fireworks Show scheduled for Tuesday, July 11th, at the special start time of 7:30pm at TOBAY Beach. “Salute to America” will feature a performance by Any Way You Want It Tribute to Journey and will conclude with a spectacular firework show by Grucci. This event honors veterans and members of the United States Armed Forces. Concertgoers are urged to bring folding chairs and pack a cooler, as no formal seating exists. Reserved parking and easily accessible restrooms will be available for disabled residents. If inclement weather arises, the rain date for the firework show will be July 12th. Supervisor Saladino stated, “Salute to America is a great opportunity for families and seniors to enjoy a free evening of music and entertainment while celebrating our freedoms in America and the veterans and active duty military who secured our freedoms. Please bring your family, and friends, along with some lawn chairs and coolers to TOBAY Beach for a wonderful night.”
