Massapequa Conducting Breakfast Program Survey The Massapequa School District will be conducting a survey of parents of students in kindergarten through fifth grade who attend Massapequa elementary schools to determine if there is any interest in a school breakfast program. If insufficient

interest is determined, an exemption to participate in this program will be requested by the board of education to the New York State Education Department.

Parents and taxpayers are asked to share their concerns regarding the district’s survey

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board recently announced that improvements at Alhambra Park are now underway.

The Town of Oyster Bay was awarded up to $5.2 million in Federal funds to bring improvements to Alhambra Park that will mitigate flooding, create better recreational access and beautify the facility. No town taxes are funding this project.

This boutique is open to the public MondaySaturday from 11AM-5PM. You can expect to find beautiful items for sale here, such as clothing (some still with tags on them), household goods, and furniture. They only accept very gently used items and everything is cleaned and prepared for sale by a team of dedicated volunteers (the boutique is operated by volunteers only)!

The selfless efforts of their volunteers truly makes the store feel warm and inviting. After rent and utilities are paid, all the rest of the proceeds go directly to the organization, which helps those in need.

In addition to that, the boutique makes many homeless individuals feel loved and cared for by giving them items of clothing free of charge and allowing them to use their bathroom when needed.

If you are looking to make a difference right here on Long Island or if you are just looking for a special something, stop by the boutique located at 19 Cherub Lane in Port Jefferson Station and make a purchase! Hope House Ministries is a non-profit organization located in Port Jefferson. They provide compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and the wounded among us. This commitment is woven in the Gospel vision that all life is sacred and every human person is unique and has the right to be respected and protected.

They have accomplished much over the 40+ years they have been helping others with minimal financial assistance from federal, state or county agencies. They depend on the generosity of private contributions, fundraising events and corporate donations.

Hope House Ministries services people in both Nassau County and Suffolk County, offering services free of charge.

Together, their staff and volunteers have created an empowering sense of family and community that are the change agents, helping young people grow in self-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving skills and personal responsibility.

There are so many ways that this non-profit can truly help you get your life on a better track. Additionally, there are plenty of ways for people to get involved in helping others through volunteering.

Over the past 40 years, thousands of people have donated their time and talent to help this organization reach those in need.

In 2013, the founder of Hope House Ministries approached long-time supporters of this organization, Barbara and Arti, with an idea of a retail space that could bring in needed funds for Little Portion Frirary, a home which houses 65 young men in recovery of drug and alcohol addiction that is ran by Hope House Ministries. The hope was that the proceeds that would potentially be brought in from a retail space could pay for these young men’s college classes, food, utilities and transportation costs.

Some years later, the perfect location for a store was found and they decided to open up a beautiful boutique there. Since their organization is all about second chances, they called it Hope
