This program is free and anyone can register for at www. afyi-iris.org (parents or guardians can register and enroll their child or dependent as a member and those who are over 18 years can register and enroll themselves). The program is dedicated to the safety of those on the Autism Spectrum and those with Neurological or Brain Disorders. This includes those with Alzheimers, MS, Intellectual Development Disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, Brain Injury, PTSD and others. Another part of their IRIS program is their communication app, which is available for free in the app stores.

This app contains picture language and emojis, so first responders can communicate easily with the individual. It also contains their 24hour emergency hotline information and the 5 Keys To De-Escalation.

North Babylon BSA Venturing Crew 399 Holds Food Drive For St. Paul’s Food Pantry

The scouts of Venturing Crew 399, North Babylon have been taking the Boy Scout motto “do a good turn daily” to heart.

On November 21, 2021, they held a food drive outside Lidl supermarket for donation to St. Paul’s Food Pantry.

The community was very generous, and they collected an incredible amount of food for the

Pantry. Twelve cart loads of supplies were collected with approximately 3000 lbs. of food. The scouts look forward to holding more community service projects in the future.

Venturing Crew 399 is a Boy Scout Crew based in North Babylon, NY and a member of the Sagtikos District of BSA’s Suffolk County Council. Venturing Crew 399 is a BSA youth

organization for boys, girls and young adults ages 14-20 and sponsored by the Lions Club of North Babylon.

Children’s Coats Drive Help a Child Keep Warm This Winter Youth of Ethical Societies (YES) is collecting children’s coats (used and new) until December 22 to be distributed to children in need through Ethical Friends of Children (EFOC), a volunteer program that has been providing clothing and children’s furniture to Long Island families for 36 years.

Children’s coats, clean and in good condition, should be placed in marked boxes in the shed behind the Ethical Humanist Society of LI building, 38 Old Country Road in Garden City. “Says Anitta Kittai, CEO of YES, “As the weather gets colder it’s important to remember that there are many kids who don’t have the security or comfort that a warm

winter coat offers.”

YES is a youth group open to high school students who are passionate about social action and volunteerism.

First half taxes are due December 1, 2021 payable to January 10, 2022 without penalty.

After January 10, 2022 one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31, 2022 after which date, additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901.

The Town of Babylon Tax Office will be accepting partial payments with penalty.
