The Charity of the Month for December is EAC Network

EAC Network is a non-profit organization that empowers, assists and cares for individuals in need. Their objective is to reach individuals within our community through innovative programs that improve quality of life.

This organization has five service areas: Children & Youth, Family & Community, Senior & Nutrition Services, Vocational Services & Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice Services. Within those five areas of service, they run a total of 103 programs and they assist over 50,000 people a year with offices in all five boroughs, Suffolk County, Nassau County and Rockland County.

EAC Network runs the New Path Treatment Center, which is an outpatient clinic located in Hempstead. The center offers a recovery process in a safe and full-service treatment program for individuals with substance abuse disorders.

Approximately 22.7 million Americans need treatment for drug or alcohol-related problems, and many will not seek treatment due to the stigma and shame associated with substance use disorders. The New Path Treatment Center is a place where trained and compassionate counselors work tirelessly to assist people in need. They address not only substance use itself, but all of its contributing factors, including mental health, physical health, family systems, socialization, smoking cessation, legal issues and employment. A personal treatment plan is developed for each individual to address their specific needs.

is possible and

the stigma of substance use and mental health disorders. Our role at New Path is to assist individuals to achieve and maintain their recovery goals. Our services follow a recovery model whereby participants are encouraged to develop their intrinsic motivation to make healthy lifestyle choices.”

Stephanie Hasandras Named Principal At Robert Moses

North Babylon School District has appointed Stephanie Hasandras as principal of Robert Moses Middle School, effective Sept. 14.

Ms. Hasandras most recently served as the assistant principal at Robert Moses Middle School since 2017 as well as co-principal of the district’s RISE alternative high school. She previously worked as an assistant principal at the Henry Street School for International Studies in New York City.

North Babylon School District Board of Education President Matthew Lucchetti said, “Ms. Hasandras is a dedicated leader who has worked diligently over the past eight years in service to the North Babylon School community as the assistant principal at the high school and the middle school. Her passion and vision to lead the school will ensure that all students feel safe,

For the first time in two years, the Town of Babylon History Museum is proud to present the annual Holiday Model Train Exhibit at Old Town Hall, 47 W. Main Street in Babylon Village. Each December, the History Museum, and the Babylon

Town Historical Society feature an interactive model train display (240 sq. ft) that highlights historic points of interest from the Town of Babylon. As we celebrate our 150th anniversary this year, we invite you to bring your kids to Old Town Hall

to see the model train display, which will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until January 1, 2023, from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. (CLOSED Christmas Day).

North Babylon Girl Scout Troop #1037

Receives The Highest Award As A Girl Scout Cadette - The Silver Award

THE SILVER AWARD - Eight members from North Babylon Girl Scout troop #1037 recently received the highest award as a Girl Scout Cadette - the Silver Award. “This award enables the girls to show that they are leaders who are organized, determined, and dedicated to improving their community.” The first group erected a Peace Pole Garden at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in North Babylon. “Peace Poles are placed to honor humanity, to remember that goodness comes from acts of kindness and that peace comes from goodness.” The girls that executed this project were Madeline Murphy, Vivian Mace, Alyssa Cuevas, and Lillian Montecalvo. The second group of girls, Sophia Paduano and Gianna Bruni created another Peace Pole garden at the Town of Babylon/Deer Park Community Center. The third group of girls, Arianna Washington, Isabella Rutha, and Isabella Ferraiuolo erected a new bench for students to use at the Robert Moses Middle School in North Babylon. Together, they dedicated over four hundred hours to their community.

New Assistant Principal Appointed At Robert Moses Middle School

North Babylon School District has appointed Daniel Cassagne as assistant principal of Robert Moses Middle School, effective Nov. 18. He replaced Stephanie Hasandras, who was named as principal of Robert Moses Middle School in September. Mr. Cassagne most recently served as a science teacher at Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Queens since 2021. He has also worked as a mathematics teacher at the school from 2013-2021.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in

interdisciplinary liberal studies and a master’s degree in teaching from James Madison University. Mr. Cassagne has an educational leadership certification from SUNY Stony Brook.

“I am beyond excited to be part of the Robert Moses Middle School team and cannot wait to get to know all students, staff and families of the North Babylon community,” Mr. Cassagne.
