The Babylon Union Free School District is proud to announce that Babylon Junior-Senior High School has been recognized among the nation’s 1,000 best public high schools, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual list for 2023. The ranking placed the school at 93rd in New York State and 846 in the nation among 17,680 public high schools. Babylon High School school was one of only seven schools in Suffolk County to make the list.
“This is a great accomplishment for our high school and one that our community should be proud of,” said Superintendent of Schools Carisa Manza. “Congratulations to not only Principal Al Cirone and his staff, but to all of Babylon’s educators and support staff members who provide expert guidance to our students throughout their time in our schools.”
Babylon High School holds a total enrollment of 442 students with a
10:1 student-teacher ratio, a 97 percent graduation rate and a 68 percent AP participation rate. The top schools are ranked methodically using different measures of student success such as college preparedness, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.

On Friday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., PSEG Long Island’s Power to Feed Long Island summer food collection drive comes to West Babylon.
Food collection bins and a drive-through option will be set up at the Stop & Shop supermarket at 575 West Montauk Highway, West Babylon, where members of the public can donate nonperishable items and household essentials for neighbors
facing food insecurity. PSEG Long Island is giving out reusable shopping bags and LED lightbulbs as a thank you.
With your help and the generous donations of fellow Long Islanders, the initiative aims to collect the equivalent of 50,000 meals during July, August and September. Last year, thanks to your kindness, the equivalent of more than 42,000 meals was collected for the Power to

During the summer months, there is a significant reduction in food donations to local food banks, pantries and programs. and the increased inflation rate have further strained local food pantries and emergency feeding programs served by Island Harvest.

North Babylon Provides Valuable Insights
North Babylon School District held a two-day orientation for teachers new to the district this upcoming school year on Aug. 23 and 24.
The newest educators kicked off day one by meeting members of the board of education, cabinet and principals. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham welcomed attendees and spoke about expectations for the upcoming school year. To close out day one, the new employees received their school badges and had
the opportunity to tour their buildings.
On the second day of orientation, the district’s department directors spoke
to the teachers about each of their program’s objectives.
Deputy Superintendent Kim Skillen offered an overview on curriculum and culturally
responsive classrooms. Following a mentor meeting, the teachers closed out the day with a bus tour of the community.
