On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Dwayne Gregory, and Councilman Terence McSweeney joined lifeguards at Gilgo Beach to celebrate Allen Stanley’s 50 years of service as a lifeguard to the Town of Babylon, many of which were spent at Gilgo Beach. Allen was known as “Al the lifeguard” and was a fixture seen in the water rowing a big wood “Gilgo Beach” row boat. “Al the Lifeguard,” said he was grateful for the recognition and all who came to celebrate with him and said he’s done it this long because he just loves what he does.

Individuals and companies from around the region have committed financial support to helping grow the “Weoperation.areactively looking at options for bringing a Ronald McDonald House to Suffolk County,” said Nick Croce, Co-Chair of the RMHC NY Metro Suffolk County Advisory Council. “We want Suffolk families to have the TheHydeHouseRonaldweandaccommodationssameresourcesthatprovideattheMcDonaldinNewPark.”Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park is a 42-bed residential facility, providing free lodging for families with a child undergoing medical treatment at Cohen Children’s Hospital next door and at other medical facilities in the area. Families also have access to homecooked meals, which are donated and prepared by volunteers, as well as shower, laundry and play areas for siblings for the duration of their “Somestay.families come to us for days, weeks or months at a time, depending on the circumstances,” said Campo. “We want families to have access to those same resources in Suffolk County so they can keep their attention on helping their children get better.”
