The Babylon Fire Department was honored at this years Suffolk County REMSCO CPR awards for their heroic action on Easter Sunday in 2023. Babylon FD, was dispatched to a cardiac arrest patient. The patient was visiting the home of one of the Babylon Village volunteer firefighters when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Liam Michael Kieran’s Eagle Scout Court Of Honor

EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR - Congrats to new Eagle Scout Liam Michael Kieran! Councilman DuWayne Gregory and Councilman Terence McSweeney, as well as Legislator Tom Donnelly, attended Liam’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor at North Babylon High School on Saturday and presented him with a proclamation from the Town Board. Liam’s Eagle Scout project was to construct a 100-foot “Caterpillar Tunnel” at Homecoming Farm in in Amityville. Its benefits include warming the soil, extending the growing season, protecting plants from pests, frost, wind and heavy rain. Homecoming Farm is one of the oldest certified organic CSA farms on Long Island. Great job, Liam!

Office For The Aging Announce Babylon Winter Senior Advocate Schedule

Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to inform Babylon residents about the local Suffolk County Office for the Aging Winter 2024 Senior Advocate Schedule. Senior advocates are County representatives who come out into the community and assist seniors with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.

“This is an excellent chance for senior citizens to get the assistance and information they need by connecting with the County’s senior advocates right in their own communities,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I hope all those interested

in the services that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Senior Advocates will be visiting the following locations in the Town of Babylon:

• North Amityville Nutrition Center, 48-C Cedar Road, Amityville: Wednesday, March 20, 10 am – 1 pm

• West Babylon Library, 211 Route 109, West Babylon: Thursday, March 28, 10 am – 12 pm Advocates assist with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP –formerly known as food stamps), Medicare Savings Program and Heating Emergency Assistance Program

(HEAP) applications. They also can provide information on Medicare, answer questions and make recommendations and referrals. For more information about available services or directions to any of these locations, please call the Suffolk County Office for the Aging at (631) 8538200.

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to again join Long Island Cares and help it “rain food for cats and dogs” by hosting a pet food drive now through the end of May .

Legislator Donnelly’s district office is serving as a drop-off location for the 13th Legislative Pet Food Drive where much-needed pet food and supplies will be collected to benefit Baxter’s Pet Pantry of Long Island Cares (www.licares.org). In previous years, constituents of the 17th Legislative

District have generously donated to this annual drive.

All donations go directly to Baxter’s Pantry. While 5 and 10 pound bags of dog and cat food, canned food, kitty litter and new pet toys are most needed, all pet nourishments are welcome including food for hamsters, fish, birds and ferrets.

Items may be dropped off at Legislator Donnelly’s District Office, located at 130 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm until May 31. As per health

code requirements, all pet food must be unopened and in original packaging. For more information or to make an appointment to donate outside of these hours, call (631) 854-4433.

“Hard times impact all members of the family, including our animal companions,” said Legislator Donnelly. “Families shouldn’t have to decide between feeding themselves and feeding their beloved pets. I am happy to partner with Long Island cares again on this important and much needed cause.”
