TERMS OF SALE
Such tax liens shall be sold subject to any and all superior tax liens of sovereignties and other municipalities and to all claims of record which the County may have thereon and subject to the provisions of the Federal and State Soldier’s and Sailors’ Civil Relief Acts.
However, such tax liens shall have priority over the County’s Differential Interest Lien, representing the excess, if any, of the interest and penalty borne at the maximum rate over the interest and penalty borne at the rate at which the lien is purchased.
The Purchaser acknowledges that the tax lien(s) sold pursuant to these Terms of Sale may be subject to pending bankruptcy proceedings and/or may become subject to such proceedings which may be commenced during the period in which a lien is held by a successful bidder or the assignee of same, which may modify a Purchaser’s rights with respect to the lien(s) the property securing same. Such bankruptcy proceedings shall not affect the validity of the tax lien. In addition to being subject to pending bankruptcy proceedings and/or the Federal and State Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Acts, said purchaser’s right of foreclosure may be affected by the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA), 12 U.S.C. ss 1811 et. seq., with regard to real property under Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) receivership.
The County Treasurer reserves the right, without further notice and at any time, to withdraw from sale any of the parcels of land or premises herein listed.
The rate of interest and penalty which any person purchases the tax lien shall be established by his bid. Each purchaser, immediately after the sale thereof, shall pay to the County Treasurer ten per cent of the amount from which the tax liens have been sold and the remaining ninety per cent within thirty days after such sale. If the purchaser at the tax sale shall fail to pay the remaining ninety per cent within ten days after he has been notified by the County Treasurer that the certificates of sale are ready for delivery, then all deposited with the County Treasurer including but not limited to the ten per cent theretofore paid by him shall, without further notice or demand, be irrevocably forfeited by the purchaser and shall be retained by the County Treasurer as liquidated damages and the agreement to purchase be of no further effect.
Time is of the essence in this sale. This sale is held pursuant to the Nassau County Administrative Code and interested parties are referred to such Code for additional information as to terms of sale, rights of purchasers, maximum rates of interest and other legal incidents of the sale.
Furthermore, as to the bidding,
1. Northside Students’ Father Returns Home From U.S. Army For Holidays
Gabriella Quijije and Isabella Quijije, students at Northside Elementary School in the Levittown Public School District, experienced the magic of the season via a special surprise from their father, Jesse Quijije, who returned home from deployment in the United States Army. Not knowing what was soon in store, Gabriella and Isabella were taken to the main office, where their mother, Carolina Quijije, was waiting. When asked what the perfect present would be, they responded it would be if their father returned home.
Substance Abuse
(NAPSA)-The more you know about substance abuse, the better you can prevent problems. You don’t have to deal with addiction alone. Learn more at drugabuse.gov.
Out walked Jesse Quijije, dressed in his military fatigues, and the family embraced in a heartwarming moment. The girls were allowed to head home with their parents, where they would enjoy the holiday break
alongside one another before Mr. Quijije’s redeployment.
The district thanks Mr. Quijije for his service and the entire Quijije family for including us in this wonderful moment.

Two Kennedy Students Named Regeneron Scholars
Bellmore-Merrick’s John F. Kennedy High School seniors Tyler Bissoondial and Luke Feldman were named Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholars on Jan. 10. This is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
Bissoondial and Feldman were among 300 students chosen nationwide for this distinction.
“Our two Regeneron Scholars completed three years of independent scientific research in the Kennedy Advanced Science Research program,” explained Robert Soel, a district science chairperson and the district’s STEAM chairperson.
Bissoondial investigated cancer and liver disease. His
project is titled, “An Omics Approach to Elucidating the Mechanism of Action for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Development in Diet-Induced Murine Models of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis.”
Feldman’s research concerned the nervous system and ALS. His project is titled, “Sulforaphane Mitigates the Phenotypic Expression of ALS in Drosophila melanogaster via Upregulation of the Nrf2 Pathway.”
Bissoondial is advised by science teacher Barbi Frank, while Feldman is advised by Alexis Vandergoot.
A total of 15 seniors submitted research projects for consideration in this competition.
“They began their
ASR journey during the Covid shutdown and have consistently demonstrated grit, academic talent, and passion for their independent science research projects as well as completing extensive research papers and scientific essays in their Regeneron applications,” added Soel.
Each of the Regeneron Scholars is awarded $2,000 for themselves and $2,000 to support science and research at Kennedy. From that select pool of scholars, 40 student finalists are invited to participate in final judging, display their work to the public, meet with notable scientists and compete for awards, including the top award of $250,000.

United States Air Force Thunderbirds To Headline 19th Annual
Bethpage Air Show At Jones Beach Taking Place May 27-28, 2023
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, are pleased to announce that the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 19th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2023 and Sunday, May 28, 2023. This will be the demonstration team’s 9th performance at the Bethpage Air Show.
It was announced at the annual International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) Convention yesterday that the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and the United States Marine Corps F35B Lighting II will be performing, along with the world famous Skytpers, Long Island’s David Windmiller and Mike Goulian, North America’s most decorated aerobatic pilot.
“Last year, we were very grateful that the Thunderbirds changed their schedule to perform for us on Memorial
Day, after the Saturday and Sunday weekend shows were rained out,” said George Gorman, Regional Director, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. “Suffice to say, we couldn’t be happier to welcome the team back to Long Island for our 2023 show!”
“The Bethpage Air Show continues to be one of New York’s most treasured events,” said Linda Armyn, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer, Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “After 19 years, the pilots and performers, show organizers and fans have grown to become a big family. We look forward to organizing a very special show for our fans this year.”
It was also announced that the United States Navy Blue Angels will return as headliners for the special 20th Anniversary Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, which will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 and Sunday, May 26, 2024.
Additional 2023 performers will be announced shortly.

Have you reviewed your insurance coverage this year? Within the past five years? Unfortunately, most people’s eyes glaze over when offered the chance to review their coverage. “Everything is fine,” they instinctively say, stalwart in their effort to not-be-sold anything. The problem is our lives are dynamic and ever-changing. We must alter our coverage to fit our ever-changing physiques. In the consumer focused, internet age, we can choose the coverage we want. Seldom, however, do our

The Corporate Source (TCS) is a non-profit organization that started in 1996. They strive to change the perceptions of individuals with disabilities in the workforce by having them work in integrated settings where their value, productivity, commitment and dedication can be experienced by all. To accomplish this mission, TCS addresses the factors a ecting employment inequity and overcomes barriers to employment that keep this staggering number of people with disabilities excluded from the workforce. TCS is extremely proud of their work and today the operate in over 100 locations , many here on Long Island, NY.
Despite an increased knowledge base and laws, such as the Americans With Disabilities Act, the overwhelming number of people with disabilities are either unemployed or underemployed. In America alone, roughly 61 million adults live with a disability. Today, about 1 in 6 American children are diagnosed with a developmental disability and they then age out of most public programming when they become 21. With less to do each day and having fewer prospects for employment, these young adults often become socially isolated and depressed.
Sometimes, employers may have misconceptions which make them reluctant to hire a person with disabilities. TCS works to change perceptions to show employers the benefits of an inclusive workforce. Given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and capabilities, these employees show dependability, honesty, tenacity and dedication to doing the best job possible. Several TCS workers have received awards and recognition for their achievements and outstanding performance on the job.
private sector organizations. A small sample of their longterm client collaborations include Janitorial and Disinfecting Services for the US Merchant Marine Academy, Mail-room Operations at Long Island and NYC Internal Revenue Service locations, Call Center Support at the Manhattan VA Medical Center and Kennel Care for the Department of Homeland Security at JFK Airport.
Most recently, they have partnered with the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) to develop a program for professionally educating and training people with disabilities for entry level positions in the growing IT field. Corporations like Microsoft, Ernst & Young and more have had very positive experiences where people with disabilities are e ective for these positions from a number of perspectives.
This non-profit works year-round through special events, networking opportunities, social media outreach and other e orts to raise awareness and funds to support disability employment initiatives. There are many ways that you can support the mission of TCS.

However, it is the sole responsibility of all tax lien purchasers to protect their legal interests in any bankruptcy case affecting their purchased tax lien, including but not limited to the filing of a proof of claim on their behalf, covering their investment in said tax lien. The Nassau County Treasurer and Nassau County and its agencies, assumes no responsibility for any legal representation of any tax lien purchaser in any legal proceeding including but not limited to a bankruptcy case where the purchased tax lien is at risk.
The rate of interest and penalty at which any person purchases the tax lien shall be established by his bid. Each purchaser, immediately after the sale thereof, shall pay to the County Treasurer ten per cent of the amount for which the tax liens have been sold and the remaining ninety per cent within thirty days after such sale. If the purchaser at the tax sale shall fail to pay the remaining ninety per cent within ten days after he has been notified by the County Treasurer that the certificates of sale are ready for delivery, then all amounts deposited with the County Treasurer including but not limited to the ten per cent theretofore paid by him shall, without further notice or demand, be irrevocably forfeited by the purchaser and shall be retained by the County Treasurer as liquidated damages and the agreement to purchase shall be of no further effect. Time is of the essence in this sale. This sale is held pursuant to the Nassau County Administrative Code and interested parties are referred to such Code for additional information as to terms of the sale, rights of purchasers, maximum rates of interest and other legal incidents of the sale.
Furthermore, as to the bidding,

Bidder(s) further agree not to employ any bidding strategy designed to create an unfair competitive advantage in the tiebreaking process in the upcoming tax sale nor work with any other bidder(s) to engage in any bidding strategy that will result in a rotational award of tax certificates.
2. The tax certificate(s) the Bidder will bid upon, and the interest rate(s) bid, will be arrived at independently and without direct or indirect consultation, communication or agreement with any other bidder and that the tax certificate(s) the Bidder will bid upon, and the interest rate(s) to be bid, have not been disclosed, directly or indirectly, to any other bidder, and will not be disclosed, directly or indirectly, to any other bidder prior to the close of bidding. No attempt has been made or will be made to, directly or indirectly, induce any other bidder to refrain from bidding on any tax certificate, to submit complementary bids, or to submit bids at specific interest rates.
3. The bids to be placed by the Bidder will be made in good faith and not pursuant to any direct or indirect, agreement or discussion with, or inducement from, any other bidder to submit a complementary or other noncompetitive bid.
4. If it is determined that the bidder(s) have violated any of these bid requirements then their bid shall be voided and if they were the successful bidder the lien and any deposits made in connection with said bid shall be forfeited.

The Right Wine
When pairing wine and food, think of wine as a condiment-it should complement a dish. The general rule
is to try to achieve a balance-wine should not overpower the food, nor should the food overpower the wine.
Kennedy Leadership Students Present Cougar Talks
Students in Leadership III course at BellmoreMerrick’s John F. Kennedy High School recently presented their Cougar Talks program.
Nine senior student presenters, who have been a part of the three-year School and Community Leadership program since sophomore year, recited talks about their chosen topics to an audience.
Luke Feldman’s talk, “Checkmate,” discussed his pastime of playing chess against his grandfather and how the game can be related to everyday human interactions.
“It is these minute actions that can carry the greatest weight, and if it can happen on a chessboard… it can certainly happen amidst the chaos of everyday life,” he noted. “Even the most seemingly insignificant interaction can have longlasting positive outcomes. All I’ve tried to do and all I can ask anyone to do is to try to make whatever
impacts they may be the best for the person beside you.”
Dustin Abrams’ talk, “Cory’s Little Brother,” talked about the balance of sibling rivalry and being a support system.
“For all younger siblings, figure out that your older sibling is looking out for you and likely showing you the way,” he said. “For all you older siblings, your younger sibling is looking up to you, trying to catch up to you and very likely needs you.”
During Savannah LoGiudice’s talk, “Practice Doesn’t Make Perfect,” she reminisced about her dance career.
“Perfection is something we continually strive for and not something we ordinarily achieve,” she said. “It’s the goal. It’s what we work towards.”
Student presenters included; Luke Feldman –“Checkmate,” Alex Levitt – “Thank You for the Music,” Dustin Abrams – “Cory’s Little Brother,”
Nicole Giordano – “Never Give Nicole Aux,” Beverly Kleinman – “Golden Peak,” Skyler Poster – “My Best Friend,” Dorien Ford – “2-0-6 (& 5-1-6),” Nick Giannaris – “Do the Things You Love to Do,” Savannah LoGiudice – “Practice Doesn’t Make Perfect,” Rachel Oppenheim – “Ask Rachel,” was not present.
Students Leah Pollack, Matthew Rowe, Benjamin Schwed and Addison Soffer from Leadership I and Emmy Rosenberg and Noah Zinman from Leadership II provided an overview of the Leadership program, which currently has 81 students enrolled.
Program instructors Kristy Faulkner, Erin Leitzel and Brad Seidman were instrumental in helping the students prepare and organizing the evening’s program.
The entire program can be viewed on CougarTV’s YouTube channel: https:// www.youtube.com/ watch?v=79hng85Y0v0.
