This project goes a long way to shoring these sandy barriers for future generations.”

Early Bird Registration The Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center is currently offering early bird registration for the Town’s Summer Hockey School program, developed by The Rinx Hockey School at the Town’s Ice Skating Center, located at 1001 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage. Hockey enthusiasts can sign up for any number of weekly sessions at discounted prices now through April 1st, 2016, from one week to all eight weeks of the program. The Town’s Summer Hockey School offers hockey players a great opportunity to develop and learn new hockey skills in week-long sessions carefully tailored to match their talent level. The Rinx Summer Hockey School is an excellent way for kids to spend the summer so parents may wish to take advantage of the early bird registration, not only to develop their children’s hockey skills but for the

fun summer experience that comes with it. The program, which is slated to begin Monday, June 27th and run through Friday, August 19th, will include a full day of onice and off-ice training run by trained hockey professionals. Throughout the week, participants will receive the benefit of 15 to 20 hours of on-ice training and 6 to 8 hours of off-ice training. The program will be broken down into two levels, intermediate and advanced. The intermediate skills program is for ages 5 through 12 and will include 15 hours of on-ice training per week and over 8 hours of training per week off the rink. The advanced session is geared for travel players ages 6 through 14 and includes 20 hours of onice training and 6 hours of training per week off the ice. Both skill programs focus on shooting, passing, agility drills and field sports. Lunch every

day is included. The Summer Hockey School sessions will be challenging, but will result in newly developed skills for our young hockey players. Each class will be filled with useful tips and techniques to fully develop each student’s hockey playing abilities. I encourage parents to register their children for this excellent program which provides a quality hockey experience with all the fun that comes from playing this great sport. Town of Oyster Bay residents receive a 10% discount on any of the training weeks. Early Arrival and Late Pick-Up are also available. The Easter feast does not call for sentimentality; it is known for fun in legend and in reality. In Christian faith, it blesses the resurrection; old customs show bunnies in Easter egg action. Some countries favor a Cuckoo or Fox to spread joy; kids do love this suspension be it girl or boy. Eggs represents the symbol of fertility and new life. Hares and rabbits show to multiply a real strong drive. To assist in the festivities, the Easter bunny was born, kept busy with hiding fancy eggs in pastures of corn.

The Town of Oyster Bay, in an effort to further provide residents with more open and accessible government, has begun streaming Town Board meetings live on the internet. “With the new year upon us, my colleagues

and I on the Town Board have made it a priority to provide residents with a Town government that is both more open and more accessible to them, beginning with making Town Board minutes and resolutions available online,” Supervisor

Venditto said. “Streaming Town Board meetings online will offer residents who can’t make it to scheduled Town Board meetings an avenue through which they can remain active and engaged in the workings of their local government.”

Banquet Held

On March 12th, Cub Scout Pack 590 held its annual Blue and Gold Banquet at American Legion Post 1066, in Massapequa. “Along with the Pinewood Derby, the Blue and Gold is one of the highlights of the scouting year,” said Cubmaster Bill Leisen. “We get to have a lot of fun and honor our scouts who earned rank, as well as the parents who worked so hard throughout

the year. I’d like to especially congratulate our second-year Webelos who earned their Arrow of Light awards, the highest award a cub scout can earn - Brian, Billy, Willis, Blake, Sean, and Dylan. Well done gentlemen!” The pack also presented plaques and gifts to Assistant Cubmaster and Den Leader Bob Clark and Assistant Den Leader Stephanie Friedman, who will be leaving the Pack as

their sons will now move on to the boy scouts. Thank you Bob and Stephanie for your dedicated years of service! Last, but not least, the Pack would like to thank their sponsoring organization, American Legion Post 1066, and its commander, Greg Greene. “Without Greg Greene and the Post, this day would not be possible, thank you for your continued support,” added Cubmaster Bill.
