Contractors For Kids (CFK) is a non-profit organization, which was founded for the purpose of providing assistance to families in Long Island communities. Their goal is to assist children and their families overcome obstacles that have unfortunately changed or have impacted their lives through the sickness, injury or death of a child.

They are committed to this cause and want to give hope and reassurance for the futures of Long Islanders.

CFK was founded in 2005 by Kevin Harney and Alan Nahmias of Stalco Construction. Kevin and Alan, both long-time philanthropists, saw the growing need for financial assistance in our communities and knew that something more needed to be done.

Through random acts of kindness, they were slowly changing the lives of others, however they thirsted to make more change so they decided to form this non-profit, Contractors For Kids.

Their organization runs on donations only and is volunteer based, they have no employees. One family at a time, they make sure that the financial hardship brought on by sickness, injury or death does not destroy an already hurting family. Whether it is to pay a phone bill or a mortgage payment, they want to be there to help.

Since 2005, CFK has given out more than 3 MILLION DOLLARS to help local Long Islanders. Here are some of the areas they’ve helped others financially: Rent, Mortgage Payments, Oil Deliveries, Utility Bills, Food, Transportation To & From Hospitals, Co-Payments, Medications & Funeral Expenses.

So how do you qualify to get help? It’s quite simple. If you can prove that you are struggling financially because of the sickness, injury or death of a child, you live on Long Island (in Nassau or Suffolk County), and you have

filled out their Application For Assistance, they will get in touch with you to see how they can be of help!

Want to help make a difference? You can do so by learning their mission, spreading awareness, referring families to CFK, distributing handouts/ electronic materials and representing CFK at health fairs, open enrollment or employee meetings.

Additionally, on June 14th CFK will be holding their 15th Annual Golf Outing at Woodside Club in Muttontown. This will be a COVID-19 compliant event...all local guidelines will be adhered to! There will be boxed breakfast, beverage carts, a silent auction, raffles, prizes, barbeque and of course, golfing.

If you would like to attend as an individual player, in a group of 4 players or you would like to sign-up as a sponsor, you can. However, space is limited. There are 7 various sponsorship opportunities, ranging from $3,000 to as little as $100. All proceeds will go back to support the mission of Contractors For Kids.

ZOOM Active Parenting Group For Parents of Elementary School Age Children to Begin

If you were faced with the responsibility for designing and building a home, would you consult a builder? Before piloting a plane, would you want to take flying lessons?

Parenting, like any other

skill, is something we learn, and learning “on the job” can be frustrating.

As parents we become confused when, after constant repetition of the same theme, children still do not respond. “Active Parenting” is perhaps the most effective program ever offered in the “how to” of raising children.

During this time of uncertainty it can be tough for families to keep a sense of calm. But it is important to help our children feel safe, keep healthy routines, manage

their behaviors and build resilience. Parenting is not easy, Active Parenting can help.

Molloy College’s Graduating Bachelors of Fine Arts and Bachelors of Science in Visual Arts Education May 2 – 31, 2021 The Molloy College Art Department is proud to announce OPTIMISM, an exhibition presenting the senior projects of the graduating fine arts and visual arts education majors at Molloy College.

The exhibition, presented in collaboration with the College Art Gallery will be on view virtually from May 2 through 31st, 2021.

This 2021 exhibition features works in acrylic

painting, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, digital art/multi-media, graphic design and digital photography.

Contributing senior artists are Jessica Gaimaro, Stephanie Karalis, Leslie RomeroGutierrez, Austin Verdejo and Davy Zheng.

1. She will replace Deputy Superintendent Alan Adcock, who is retiring, as the district’s chief financial officer.

Ms. Silveri, a Wantagh resident, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University in Maryland, a master’s degree in early childhood education from Hofstra University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Stony Brook University and master’s degree in school district business leadership from Hofstra. She is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the Association of School Business Officials, Long Island Language Teachers and the New York State School Boards Association.

Additionally, she has presented at numerous conferences and been published in the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers Journal.

Building Department Opens WalkUp Window Services for Residents Oyster Bay Town Councilman Lou Imbroto announced that the Department of Planning and Development has opened a new walk-up window to its Town Hall South location to safely assist residents with building permit applications.

Residents can access the new space, available in the front parking lot at Town Hall South in Massapequa, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“Are you thinking about a new swimming pool, fence, solar panels, a generator or upgrading your home?

Planning experts are available to assist you with various building procedures, including the permit process,” said

Councilman Imbroto. “Our Town has ensured that services remain available to residents since the beginning of the pandemic, with our staff always being available even when our buildings have remained closed. We have worked to ease the permit process for residents, recently opening a new walk-up service at Town Hall North, and now at Town Hall South to allow for those looking to file their paperwork.”

The Town of Oyster Bay Department of Planning and Development’s new walk-up service is available at Town Hall South, located at 977 Hicksville Road in Massapequa (at the front of the building, north side),

from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as at Town Hall North, located in the parking lot between 54 and 74 Audrey Avenue (near the elevator shaft) in Oyster Bay from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This new walkup window allows residents to drop off their applications and speak with planning experts to assist in obtaining materials needed to process permits,” Councilman Imbroto added.

Residents can access and print Building Permit applications from the Town’s website, www. oysterbaytown.com/ building.

One-Stop Passport Services To help residents looking to obtain new passports, Oyster Bay Town Clerk Rich LaMarca announces that his office offers full passport services by appointment at Town Hall North in Oyster Bay. “Residents looking to apply for a new passport are invited to make an appointment at our Town Hall North office location to receive full assistance in executing your application,” said Town Clerk LaMarca. “We can help you with organizing your documents, obtaining a photo and submitting the documents for approval.”

Town Clerk LaMarca noted that residents can have their passport photo taken at Town Hall North, or can supply their own.

Requirements for applying for a new passport include:

One 2x2 color photograph with a clear view of the applicant’s face against a plain white or light colored background.

Photos are available for $10 at Town Hall North.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship –certified birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth, Naturalization Certificate, or Certificate of Citizenship.

Proof of Identity – Naturalization Certificate, Valid Driver’s License (cannot have been issued or renewed in the last six months), Current Government ID (city, state or federal), Current Military ID (military and dependents).
