Town Partners With Massapequa Park For LI United Walk & Rally
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Massapequa Park Village Mayor Danny Pearl announced that the Town and Village are partnering with Drug Free Long Island, Thomas’ Hope Foundation and Long Island United for Recovery to help bring attention to the disease of addiction and host a walk and rally on Saturday, September 28th to further advocate for the cause. The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“We invite all residents to join us at this event, which will honor those who have lost their battle, encourage advocacy and awareness to create change, support those in the flight, and celebrate those in recovery,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We thank Long Island United for Recovery for all of their
efforts to bring resources together to support those in need.”
Participants in the walk will be supporting those struggling with the disease of addiction, and celebrating those in recovery and their family members. The event will have a resource fair, banner signing, recovery speakers as well as a DJ, free raffles, giveaways, activities for children, and refreshments.
“We thank Long Island United for Recovery and Drug Free Long Island for their partnership in bringing such important programs like this to our Village, helping to raise awareness and provide support for those who need it most,” said Mayor Pearl. Saladino Launches Food Drive To Support Local Veterans

Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board today urged residents to support local veterans by donating to a Veteran Food Collection Drive in support of disadvantaged hometown heroes. From October 1st to October 31st, residents are invited to drop-off nonperishable food items at collection boxes located in Town Hall South in Massapequa (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa) and Town Hall North in Oyster Bay (54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay).
Supervisor Saladino stated, “Donating to a veteran food collection drive helps provide essential support to those who have bravely served our nation but now face food insecurity. Your contribution ensures that veterans and their families receive the nutrition they need to thrive and recover from challenging circumstances. By giving back, you honor their sacrifices and make a meaningful difference in their lives.”

The East Coast’s largest waterfront festival will return this fall to the streets of Oyster Bay. Supervisor Joseph Saladino, his colleagues on the Town Board and organizers and sponsors of the 41st Oyster Festival announced the return of the iconic seaside festival this October 19th and 20th. Supervisor Saladino, together with Councilwoman Michele Johnson, Councilwoman Vicki Walsh, Town Clerk Rich LaMarca and Receiver Jeff Pravato; Oyster Festival partner the Oyster Bay-
East Norwich Chamber of Commerce President Ryan Schlotter and Las Vegas Sands Senior Vice President Tracey Edwards made the announcement along the waterfront at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park.
“The Oyster Fest showcases our beautiful Town and historic sites in Oyster Bay while helping to raise charitable funds for local nonprofit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club. So when you’re eating an oyster from our waterways, drinking a beverage from the local brewing company, or
shopping in our downtown, you can feel especially good knowing that a portion of your dollars supports local charities,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We’re also putting the local oyster back in Oyster Fest, and we are thrilled that over a dozen Long Island oyster farmers are participating in this year’s festival.”
In addition to delicious food vendors, various merchandise exhibits, amusement rides and a waterfront family fun zone, this year’s Oyster Festival
will once again take part in the Town’s shell recycling program, through which the Town collects shells from local partners to strengthen the marine ecosystem. Registration Underway For Town’s Fall Co-Ed Fitness Classes
Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh announced that residents who are interested in maintaining or improving their levels of fitness can register for the Town’s popular Co-Ed Fitness Classes at the Hicksville Athletic Center. Classes run for 10 weeks and are offered to individuals 18 years of age or older.
“The Town’s popular fall co-ed recreational programs provide a great outlet for our residents to exercise and stay in shape while making new friends,” said Councilwoman Walsh. “These fun classes
offer an opportunity to stay physically active, creating an optimal environment for fitness and forging new friendships!”
This fall, residents can participate in a variety of fitness classes that will be held at the Hicksville Athletic Center:
Ballroom Dancing: Saturdays, from 7pm to 8pm, beginning October 5th.
Cardio Kick-Boxing: Thursdays, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, beginning October 3rd.
Pilates: Mondays, from 8pm to 9pm, beginning September 30th.
Yoga: Residents can choose their session from the following: Saturdays (beginning October 5th from 9am to 10am), Sundays (beginning September 29th) from 9am to 10am, Tuesdays (beginning October 1st) from 8pm to 9pm and Thursdays (beginning October 3rd) from 7am to 8am.
Zumba: Mondays (beginning September 30th) from 6:45pm to 7:45pm or Wednesdays (beginning October 2nd) from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

Town To Host 16th Awareness Event Benefiting Advantage Care Health Center For Autism & Developmental Disabilities
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Lou Imbroto invite residents to participate in the Town of Oyster Bay’s 16th Annual Autism Awareness Event, being held this year at Bethpage Community Park on Saturday, September 28th. The event benefits Advantage Care Health Center’s Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities, one of the leading treatment and outpatient assessment programs for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
“Autism can present itself in a wide variety of ways, typically characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as unique strengths and differences,” Supervisor Saladino stated. “It is estimated that the condition affects 1 in every 36 children in the United States, and early diagnosis leads to an increased ability to help through intervention services.”
This year’s Autism Awareness event features a walk, skating, fun activities, crafts, facepainting, DJ/
dancing, refreshments and antibullying information. Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m., with the walk commencing at 11 a.m. The registration fee is $10 for individuals and $25 for families. All registrants will receive entrance to the post-walk tailgate party with refreshments and free T-shirts while supplies last.
Councilman Imbroto added, “We are pleased to once again host this event to benefit the Fay J. Linder Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, which offers the highest quality,
state-of-the-art clinical services to people with Autism Spectrum disorders. From hosting social skill development groups to assisting with medicine management and educating community organizations, Advantage Care Health Center does truly outstanding work in our Town.”

Lou Imbroto invites residents to take part in the Town’s Fall Athletic Programs for basketball, badminton, and volleyball, beginning on Sunday, September 29th, Hicksville Athletic Center. All athletic programs run for 10 weeks, are co-ed, and open to individuals 18 and over.
“The Town’s athletic programs offer a great opportunity for residents to take to the court, improve their skills, and make new friends,” said Councilman Imbroto. “We have various sessions scheduled for each sport, giving residents several opportunities to have fun while
staying active.”
Basketball pickup games will be held on Thursdays from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturdays from 8:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and Sundays from 8:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., beginning on September 29, 2024. The Basketball program is 10-weeks long and costs $25 for residents and $40 for nonresidents.
Badminton will feature two sessions for registrants to choose from. Classes start Sunday, September 29th. Session 1 takes place Tuesdays from 8:45 p.m. to 10:05 p.m., Fridays from 8:45 p.m. to 10:05 p.m., and Sundays from 6:10 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. Session 2
takes place Tuesdays from 10:15 p.m. to 11:35 p.m., Fridays from 10:15 p.m. to 11:35 p.m., and Sundays from 8:20 p.m. to 10:20 p.m. The Badminton program is 10-weeks long and costs $75 for residents and $100 for nonresidents.
Volleyball will be split into two sessions. The first session will be held on Mondays from 8:45 p.m. to 10:05 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:45 p.m. to 10:05 p.m., and Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. The second session will take place on Mondays from 10:15 p.m. to 11:35 p.m., Wednesdays from 10:15 p.m. to 11:35 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:20 p.m. to 10:20 p.m.. The
volleyball program is 10-weeks long, costs $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents, and is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 30th.
