Free Child ID Card Program
New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso, in partnership with Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy, and the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, is holding a FREE Child ID Card Program on Saturday, August 12th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Marjorie Post Pool in Massapequa. The program
is free and open to Nassau County residents only. The ID cards will be produced on site and available in minutes. No appointment is necessary. When a child goes missing, every moment is precious. Law enforcement needs accurate information and quickly. The Nassau County DA’s Operation Safe Child program provides parents with an identification card for
their children containing pertinent physical information to give law enforcement officials a head start on a missing child. Information on each card includes child’s name, birthdate, age, gender, hair and eye color, height and weight, fingerprints, and a high-resolution digital photo.

The next aspect of your home you should check is your gutters. Make sure they are cleaned, and water is able to fill up and be diverted away from your house. Make sure that the downspouts to your gutters are pointed away from the foundation of your home and are clear for water to flow through easily. If gutters are not able to keep a constant flow of water away from your home the facia that the gutters are attached to will rot. This may cause your gutters to fall off your home, leaving your house vulnerable to leaks and cracks. Finally, make sure that all your windows and doors can lock & are airtight. Water should not be able to infiltrate through these openings. Make sure the soil around your window wells is loose and able to absorb water so no flooding can occur. Massapequa BOE Adopts Bond Resolution
Community Referendum Scheduled For Oct. 17
During the July 6 Massapequa School District Board of Education meeting, the board adopted a resolution to present a threepart bond proposition to its community for consideration.
Developed through feedback from the district’s Buildings and Grounds and Budget and Finance committees, the proposed bond will be presented as three propositions totaling $82.2 million.
Proposition No. 1 will focus on upgrades to core infrastructure districtwide, including security upgrades, roof replacements, exterior door replacements, boiler replacements and HVAC upgrades, as well as enhancements to the district’s softball field at
Berner Middle School, including the installation of synthetic turf, and new elementary playgrounds. Projects included in

Proposition No. 2, which is contingent upon the successful passage of Proposition No. 1, would allow the district to enter into an energy performance contract. This EPC would result in a number of energy efficiency projects, including the replacement of more than 11,700 current interior lighting fixtures with LED lights and adding solar power with an estimated 3.7 megawatts of roof-mounted photovoltaics electric generation. Total of Proposition No. 2 is not to exceed $24 million and carries no additional impact on the tax levy, as it is funded through the energy savings and NYSED Building Aid.
Proposition No. 3, not to exceed $11.79 million, focuses exclusively on preserving district assets by upgrading the Hawthorn School. Projects at Hawthorn include replacements to the roof, fire alarm system, exterior doors, as well as parking lot and related site work improvements and additional interior upgrades. If approved by voters, it is anticipated the district will enter into a lease agreement with Nassau BOCES.
Voting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Massapequa High School and Fairfield, Lockhart and McKenna
