Jeffrey Pravato reminds residents that the Second Half of the 2023 General Tax Levy is due on July 1st, but can be paid without penalty through August 10th.
“New York State Law allows my office to provide taxpayers with a 40-day penalty free period from the date the tax is due during which payment may be made without penalty,” Receiver Pravato explained. “After the 40 days, State Law requires a one percent penalty be added for each month the tax remains unpaid. So make your payment before August 10th and don’t delay, and you will ensure you aren’t paying more out of pocket than you need to.”
The Tax Office is open
at both Town Hall North, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, and Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm to assist residents and accept payments with a check, cash or credit card. On August 9th and 10th both offices will be open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. When paying in person, residents are reminded to bring the entire tax bill. There are also outdoor walkup windows, and drop boxes have been installed at both locations for residents to make payments when the Tax Office is closed.
Residents who prefer to mail in their payments should send them to the Office of the Receiver of Taxes, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, N.Y. 117711539. Please make your
check payable to Jeffrey P. Pravato, Receiver of Taxes and indicate your property’s Section, Block and Lot and telephone number on the check.
Tax payments may also be made online through a link on the Town website, www.oysterbaytown.com. Residents may view tax bills, print out a hard copy, or pay taxes with an ACH check payment for a fee of $1.75, or by credit card (for a much higher fee, charged by credit card companies). The Town of Oyster Bay receives no portion of this fee.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that they are hosting the 45th Annual Jones Beach Volleyball Tournament comprised of 6-player coed teams. This event will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2023 and will be held rain or shine.
The tournament will begin at 9:00AM on the volleyball courts at Central Mall Field 4 at Jones Beach State Park. The first round of matches will be played as a round robin. All teams are guaranteed to play seven games. The top two teams from each round robin bracket will advance on to the quarterfinals which will decide the two

Saladino and the Oyster Bay Town Board recently honored Massapequa
Middle School Hockey Head Coach, Vice President of the Islander’s High School Hockey League, as well as two fathers of players on the Massapequa team for their remarkable actions that saved the life of a retired FDNY firefighter battling 9/11 cancer.
During a play-off game between Massapequa and Locust Valley, Donald McCullough suffered cardiac arrest.
Coach Sean Kilgus, of Massapequa,
jumped into action and began to perform CPR alongside Christopher Stack and Gordon Madden, both of Massapequa Park and fathers of boys on the team. Vincent Papasodero, of Massapequa Park and Vice President of the Islander’s High School Hockey League, retrieved the AED, and its shock along with CPR helped the patient begin to breathe on his own. He was transported to the hospital where he underwent double bypass surgery and received a pacemaker implant.
“The combined efforts of these
courageous men saved the life of a treasured grandfather, father and 9/11 hero,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Incredibly, all four men involved in this rescue are professional first responders. We cannot thank our first responders and men and women in uniform enough; you are invaluable.”

Friends For Life Senior Foundation 3rd Annual Senior Day In The Park
On Thursday, June 15th, Friends for Life Senior Foundation held its 3rd Annual Senior Day in the Park at Marjorie Post Park, Massapequa. The invite-only event drew 450+ attendees from the Massapequa and surrounding communities for a fun-filled day. This year’s Luau theme greeted
each guest at check-in with their own Lei, and then they were escorted to their tables. The day began with opening announcements from the foundation’s Founder, Amy Recco, welcoming the guests and sponsors that generously participated to make this day possible—the day included a gourmet catered BBQ Lunch
from Broadway Gourmet and special Dilly Bars which are a fan fave from Dairy Queen. Our Resident MVP DJ, Michael Veccia, played music that had the seniors dancing the day away! Over 40 people took home various raffles basket prizes that were on display throughout the day for those who wanted
