Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced that the Lords of 52nd Street will perform a ‘Last Summer Blast’ concert at Ellsworth W. Allen Park in Farmingdale on Saturday, September 21st at 7 p.m. This free concert will offer residents one last chance to enjoy some free musical entertainment before the fall season officially
arrives. The Lords of 52nd Street features the legends of The Billy Joel Band, including Liberty DeVitto, and Russell Javors.
Supervisor Saladino stated, “The members of the Lords of 52nd Street are legends of rock n’ roll and put on an amazing performance each time out, recreating the amazing sounds of rock legend Billy Joel, whose
hits they were originally part of. The Town is proud to present this free concert to residents.”

Receiver Pravato Reminds Residents Of Mortgage Satisfaction Or New Homeowner Notification
Oyster Bay Town Receiver of Taxes, Jeffrey Pravato, reminds residential property owners that it is essential to notify his office upon satisfying their mortgage.
In addition, Receiver Pravato encourages residents who recently purchased a home, condominium or coop unit, or recently refinanced, to be sure that notification in writing is sent to Jeffrey P. Pravato, Receiver of Taxes, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771-1539 or email receiveroftaxes@ oysterbay-ny.gov.
“This will ensure that tax bills are received promptly
by the homeowner,” said Tax Receiver Pravato. “A homeowner relying on a bank, attorney, or Nassau County to notify the Tax Office may find there is a delay in billing the homeowner directly, which can lead to the imposition of a late payment penalty.”
“When writing, property owners should include the legal property description, including the school district, section, block, and lot numbers, as well as the name and address to whom tax bills should be directed. In the case of condominiums, the building and unit number should be noted,” added Tax Receiver Pravato.
Residents may also report their information in person by visiting the Office of the Receiver of Taxes at Town Hall North at 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay or Town Hall South at 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa. Both offices are open daily from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm to assist residents.
Property owners residing in incorporated villages must also notify their village assessor. Homeowners requiring further assistance should contact the Office of the Receiver of Taxes at (516) 624-6400.

An Air Of Excitement Among Massapequa’s Newest Educators
When the new school year began, there was about three dozen new faces at the front of the classrooms across the Massapequa School District. New teacher orientation, a thorough, four-day affair, helped first-year faculty members prepare for opening day and beyond.
New teachers gathered at the Teacher Learning
Center in McKenna Elementary School on the morning of Aug. 20 for introductions from Massapequa Board of Education President Kerry Wachter and Superintendent Dr. William Brennan. Ms. Wachter explained that Massapequa schools reflect the values, needs and expectations of the
community. She also reminded them that teaching is a challenging but rewarding profession, and educators can make a positive difference in the lives of their students every day.
Dr. Brennan spokes about the district’s vision and mission, and also explained the work being done to develop the Profile
of a Massapequa Learner and Leader. In talking about the “Massapequa experience,” he noted the district’s emphasis on providing multiple opportunities and pathways for students, so every learner can go on his or her own personal journey to success.
Being flexible and adaptable is crucial to
success as a teacher, Dr. Brennan said, noting that they are preparing students for jobs that don’t exist yet. This year’s incoming kindergartners will graduate high school in 2037, meaning they will be in careers until the 2070s, he added.
Other aspects of new teacher orientation, which concluded on Aug.
23, included overviews of the business office, curriculum, instructional technology, professional resources, special education and teaching strategies. There were also breakout groups and time allotted for teachers to visit their buildings.

Long Island's Largest Car Show To Be Held September 22
Long Island’s largest and most premier car show experience returns to TOBAY Beach on Sunday, September 22nd, from 11am to 4pm. “Car Show Long Island” features hundreds of automobiles, trucks, military vehicles, and emergency service vehicles. With hospitals facing a nationwide blood shortage, Oyster Bay Town Clerk Richard LaMarca invites residents to attend a Blood Collection Drive on Thursday, September 26th from 1pm to 7pm at the Hicksville Athletic Center, located at 167 S. Broadway in Hicksville. Clerk LaMarca stated, “Blood supplies are critically needed for local hospitals to meet the demand and continue saving lives. Please consider participating in this blood drive to help bolster our blood banks and ensure as many people as possible can be helped. Together, we can give the gift of life
though a simple blood donation.”
Appointments are preferred for the Town’s Blood Drive. To qualify as a donor, a person must be between the ages of 17 and 75 years old (16 with parental permission and 76 or older with a doctor’s note), weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. Anyone who received a tattoo within the past three months is ineligible to donate. It is recommended that donors eat well (low fat) and drink fluids in the days before the Blood Drive. Additionally, all donors will receive a voucher for a free
