Dockside Family Festival

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that the annual Dockside Family Festival will take place on Saturday, September 9th at Captree State Park in Babylon from 11:00AM to 5:00PM, rain or shine.

This festival offers fun for the entire family! Adults can enjoy live music as well as a variety of merchandise and food vendors. Activities for children include interactive pirate shows, pony rides, magic shows, boat rides (children must be accompanied by an adult) and much more! All activities are free; however, there is an $8.00 vehicle use fee in effect from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.

VILLA PIZZA DONATES TO HAWAII RELIEF - The OLPH Knights of Columbus held a fundraiser at Villa Pizza raising funds for disaster relief in Hawaii. Villa Pizza donated 20% of each order’s total, along with matching the overall donation, bringing the total to $800! This was an outstanding event, and there is another one planned for mid-November.

Lindenhurst Summer Camp A Success!

The Village of Lindenhurst Camp was the place to be this summer! Hundreds of Lindenhurst children ages 5-14 had a summer of fun at the camp. In addition to recreational activities and sit-down games, campers enjoyed the DJ party, water slide day, talent show, color wars, and several trips.

Volksmarch Announced As September’s 100th Anniversary Event

The Village of Lindenhurst, in conjunction with the Lindenhurst Historical Society, is excited to announce the September 100th Anniversary event! The Historical Society, who is celebrating its 75th anniversary, will be hosting a Volksmarch on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM.

A Volksmarch is a 3.1 mile family friendly and leisurely walk from one destination to another where participants learn about specific details of landmarks and history of the Village.

Registration begins at 9:00 AM the day of the event. Pre-registration is available beginning August 31, 2023.

September 11, 2001 will live in the mind of every American throughout time. America will never forget 9/11/01. Lindenhurst will never forget. September 11th is a time to remember all that was lost to us that day: our sense of security, our peace, our innocence, our belief that we were safe beyond such random violence. Most of all, we remember those who lost

their lives, specifically, the eight Lindenhurst residents that lost or gave their lives that horrific day.

This year, the Village of Lindenhurst will be holding our 22nd Year Candlelight Remembrance Service beginning at 7:00PM on Monday, September 11th, 2023 at the Village’s 9-11 Memorial Garden, located on the south side of Lindenhurst

Village Park, on Byrd Street between Irmisch Avenue and Heling Boulevard. All are invited to attend. Mayor Michael Lavorata said “It would be an honor to have you join us as we mark the 22nd anniversary of 9-11 and pause to remember.”

American Heart Association’s Long Island Heart Walk Returns September 10

This year the Long Island Heart Walk will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Jones Beach, Field

5. The Long Island Heart Walk supports a movement to get America walking to live longer, heart-healthy lives. Registration begins at 8:30am and the walk is scheduled to start at 9:30am.

The American Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere walking and fund-raising event that takes place in over 300 cities every year. The event focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by raising money to support heart research

and heart healthy lifestyle programming. This year’s Heart Walk is sponsored by Life is Why sponsor Mount Sinai South Nassau.

Did you know that cardiovascular disease occurs every 39 seconds and is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. The National External Diploma Program offers adults 21 and over, the opportunity to receive credit for their life experiences, and earn a high school equivalency diploma without the challenge of taking lengthy timed examinations. NEDP, is a competency based program for students who are unable to attend classes or who prefer to work at home. Successful candidates for
