I am happy to report that the Village of Lindenhurst has purchased two Chevy Bolt electric vehicles to add to our fleet. The electric cars were
purchased with a New York State and Municipal Facilities Grant, at no cost to the Village taxpayers. The electric vehicles will be charged, in part,
from the solar panels that were installed on the roof of Lindenhurst Village Hall. Utilizing this energy source to power our electric vehicles with renewable, green electricity reduces the cost of what the Village typically pays for gasoline. When gasoline is around $4.00 a gallon, electric vehicles have a tremendous savings to the Village. Other economic and environmental benefits of the electric vehicles include:
• On top of the annual fuel bill, electric vehicles save on maintenance costs. With fewer moving parts, they do not need the same amount of yearly servicing.
• Electric vehicles have a substantial environmental benefit in that they
