GENERAL INFORMATION

OLPH TRACK IS FOR GIRLS & BOYS IN

SEASON STARTS:  early APRIL

SEASON ENDS:  early JUNE (these dates are approximate)

PRACTICES:

THRU 8th

• Most often are TUESDAY & THURSDAY EVENINGS at LINDENHURST MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK, but location & times may differ depending on availability

• Practices start at 6:30 and last for 60-90 minutes (typically)

TRACK MEETS:

• There are usually 4 or 5 meets PER SEASON

• Meets begin after the first 3rd or 4th week of practice

• Meets are Saturday OR Sunday

• Common meet locations: RONKONKOMA, MASSAPEQUA, LINDENHURST, PATCHOGUE, HOLBROOK

TYPICAL EVENTS:

• Dashes of 55m, 100m, 200m

• Relays of various distances

• Mile run for older kids

UNIFORM:

An OLPH TRACK T-SHIRT is required for meets.  TSHIRT cost is $10 and is separate from registration fee. T SHIRT can be paid for at IN-PERSON REGISTRATION or at an early season practice. It cannot be paid for online at this time. You can reuse T-SHIRT from the previous season if you’d like.

Lindenhurst Breaks Ground On New DPW Building

The Lindenhurst Department of Public Works (DPW) is getting a brand new facility! Ground recently broke on Phase 1 of this capital improvement project to construct a new central garage, administrative offices, along with site improvements, and demolish the old, dilapidated current DPW facility at 121 Albany Avenue.

Over the years, the Lindenhurst

DPW has expanded their fleet of vehicles and equipment in order to improve the many essential services the Village provides to residents. These services include sanitation, recycling, street and roadway maintenance, snow removal, parks maintenance, and horticultural conservation and beautification. As a result of the increased use, and the natural course of time, the

DPW has outgrown their facilities and the buildings have fallen into a state of disrepair.

Trustee Douglas Madlon said, “This project, funded in part by NYS State and Municipal Facilities Grant funds, will upgrade and improve the public works buildings and grounds to better service our Lindenhurst community.”

Third Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade

Lindenhurst has the “Luck of the Irish!” March is here and Lindenhurst’s Wellwood Avenue will once again be festively adorned with waving Irish and U.S. flags, and green lights and shamrocks decorating Village Square Park, in preparation for the Third Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade!

The 2024 Parade will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, at 12:00 PM., and will be led by Grand Marshal Kevin J. McCaffrey, Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature. A resident of Lindenhurst, Presiding Officer McCaffrey began his career in government thirtyfour years ago as a Lindenhurst Village Trustee. He has served as a Suffolk County Legislator for the past 10 years, and was twice elected by his peers to serve as Presiding Officer of the Legislature. Still an active member of the Lindenhurst Community, he has chosen the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition & Tunnel to Towers Foundation as the co-recipients of the 2024 Parade’s charitable donation.

Thanks to the support of sponsors, such as Belfast Gastropub, Danaher Wealth Management, Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, OLPH Knights of Columbus Council #794, National Grid, East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lindenhurst Business Improvement District,

Pino Wine Bar & Bistro, and Suffolk AME, among many others, the Third Annual Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade will see hundreds of Irish pipers, drummers, dancers, local firefighters, scouting troops, fraternal groups, community organizations, businesses, and elected officials march down Wellwood Avenue, through the beautiful, historic Lindenhurst Downtown Business District.

The Parade will begin at Lindenhurst Fireman’s Park & Village Park, travel west on Hartford Street, turn south onto Wellwood Avenue, and end at Gates Avenue. Parking near the Parade Start, and along Wellwood Avenue will be restricted on Parade Day, and the cross streets along the parade route will be barricaded starting at approximately 10:00AM.

The Lindenhurst St. Patrick’s Parade was conceived by Parade Committee Co-Presidents David Crowe, Proprietor of Lindenhurst’s Belfast Gastropub, and RJ Renna, Lindenhurst Village Trustee. Also on the Parade Committee are Presiding Officer McCaffrey, and Committee Secretary Katie Schrader.
