Seniors, Enjoy Your Days At The Rainbow Senior Center!!

Barone is a local senior who has been visiting the senior center for many years.

Wow, talk about a great place to play Bingo, and a lot of other fun things!

The Village of Lindenhurst Rainbow Senior Center

Director Dawn Shipsey and the rest of their staff do whatever it takes to make our days great… they are always looking for things to keep us seniors happy and healthy. We have luncheons with live musical entertainment, make lots of great crafts, go to wonderful places on trips and truly enjoy each others company.

If you love Bingo like I do, it’s held at the senior center on Tuesdays, and they recently started to offer it on Fridays too! If you come on Fridays, the staff makes healthy yogurt parfaits for us with strawberries, blueberries and granola. I think this is so

thoughtful! Visitors can also enjoy great coffee and tea all day, any day.

Horse Racing is another fun event and we always accompany the games with a filling lunch, sometimes Chinese food, sandwiches or pizza. The staff never complains and have become great friends of mine. They just can’t do enough for us!

I have been going to this senior center since 1974, when I first started taking my mother in law…and yes, she loved it there too. I took the time to write this

in hopes that any seniors that haven’t been to The Rainbow Senior Center yet will read this and know that they’re welcome there with open arms….it’s worth getting out of the house and heading over there. This is really a great place to have right in our neighborhood. As we get older and just want to enjoy every day we have, I recommend you stop by.

OLPH Knights At Great South Bay Lindenhurst

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers homeowners the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, a fantastic opportunity to save money while making your home more eco-friendly. You can claim a tax credit of up to $3,200 for qualifying energy-efficient improvements installed on or after January 1, 2023.

So, what does this mean for you? In simple terms, for every dollar you spend on qualified energy-efficient improvements, you can reduce your tax liability, up to the specified limit. However, keep in mind that these upgrades must be new products and materials that meet specific energy-efficiency standards to qualify.

Exterior doors that meet applicable standards can qualify for the energy tax credit. You can claim 30% of the project cost, up to $250 per door, with a total limit of $500.

Upgrade to energy-efficient windows to not only reduce your energy bills but also claim tax credits. Homeowners can receive 30% of project costs, up to $600, in tax credits.

The energy tax credit allows homeowners to recover 30% of the costs, up to $1,200, for improving home insulation. This credit can come from attic insulation, wall insulation, or exterior insulation that is placed behind the siding of your home.

If you are looking to take advantage of these tax credits, Unified Home Remodeling has Energy Star approved products and installers to ensure you get the most bang for your buck.

OLPH KNIGHTS AT GREAT SOUTH BAY LINDENHURST - The OLPH Knights of Columbus ran a fundraiser at Great South Bay Lindenhurst where their famous 5050 brought in over $700. Summer Senior Advocate Schedules

Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to inform Babylon and Huntington residents about the local Suffolk County Office for the Aging Summer 2024 Senior Advocate Schedule. “It is so important for us to provide our senior citizens with the assistance and information they need in ways that are most convenient to them. These visits allow our seniors to connect with our County’s senior advocates right in their own communities,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I hope all those interested in the services that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides will take advantage of this opportunity.”

This summer, Senior Advocates will be visiting the following locations in the Town of Babylon:

At The Argyle, you can always count on quality, comfort, and convenience. We look forward to seeing you soon!” – The Argyle Theatre Owners, Mark & Dylan Perlman

“After the incredible success of our fifth season, we’re thrilled to bring our audiences an

even more exciting sixth season! As an Artistic Director, it’s so gratifying to see that our audiences have grown year after year and have responded to the vision that Mark, Dylan, and I imagined for this wonderful place from Day One. Thanks to all of you who’ve been a part of making that dream come true. See you next season!” The Argyle Theatre’s Artistic Director, Evan Pappas

The upcoming season includes:

A Christmas Carol The Musical 11/7/24 - 1/5/25

Broadway heavy hitters Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island), breathe fantastic new life into the classic tale of A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story.

Jersey Boys

1/23/25 - 4/6/25

With phenomenal music, memorable characters, and great storytelling, JERSEY BOYS follows the fascinating evolution of four blue-collar kids who became one of the greatest successes in pop music history. Winner of Best Musical at both the Tony Awards® and

Olivier Awards®, JERSEY BOYS takes you behind the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to discover the secret of a 40-year friendship as the foursome work their way from the streets of New Jersey to the heights of stardom.

Fiddler on The Roof

4/24/25 - 6/15/25

Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, this universal show is a staple of the musical theatre canon.
