Many Lindenhurst Community Seniors recently relived their high school days, dancing the night away in the Lindenhurst High School cafeteria. The Lindenhurst High School Student Council hosted the Lindenhurst Senior Citizen Prom, after a twoyear hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The

event was an invitation for seniors to step back in time and experience the sensation of a high school prom, and even included the crowning of a King and Queen of the Senior Prom. Congratulations to this year’s royal couple, Vinny and Josephine Piombino!

Trustee Joan M. Masterson said, “It was a wonderful opportunity

for our senior citizens to come out and enjoy an evening of dancing, food, fun, and fellowship. Thank you to the Lindenhurst High School Student Council for working with the Lindenhurst Rainbow Senior Center to continue this wonderful tradition here in our Village.”

Runner Jasmine Parreno Lets Nothing Stand In Her Way

Jasmine Parreno was an avid runner, and it was a huge part of her day-to-day life. Unfortunately, this passion of hers came under fire when she was diagnosed with COVID-19 in 2021.

She battled a serious case of double pneumonia and both her lungs became severely damaged as a result. It was in those moments where she truly questioned if she would ever get the chance to run again. Persistent long haulers proceeded to present its symptoms with acute respiratory failure. Still, slowly but surely, she began to recooperate and has since recovered– despite some mild symptoms.

According to Jasmine, it was time for her to get back on her feet. She decided to challenge herself and hit the pavement once again. She ran her first 5K with OG Training Academy in Lindenhurst.

She hopes that her story would serve as a means to spread motivation and hope to those that are struggling with any illness, whether it be mentally or physically. “Do not let an illness, of any kind, convince you that something is impossible,” Jasmine said. “It doesn’t mean that it will be easy, but definitely worth trying!”

The Charity of the Month for May is LI Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which encompasses New York State’s Nassau, Su olk, Queens, and Kings (Brooklyn) Counties, was created as a place of community that inspires and explores Long Island music in all its forms. To date, the organization has inducted more than 100 musicians and music industry executives, and also o ers education programs and scholarships to Long Island students, sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, and features traveling educational exhibits, including a state-of-the-art mobile museum.

Last year, the organization opened its doors to their new awe-inspiring 8,800 Sq Ft facility in Stony Brook, NY, which features a large exhibition area, theater, performance area and an o cial “Hall of Fame Museum.”
