Chapter 193 Planning Board of the Code of the Village of Lindenhurst is hereby amended to read as follows:

Legislative Intent.

The Village Board of Trustees has determined that it is necessary to amend the Powers and Duties of the Planning Board from time to time. The regulation of such duties is necessary for the protection and maintenance of the health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants of the Village. Moreover, the regulation of such is necessary to promote the aesthetic values of the Village and to increase property values. The Village Board of Trustees finds that this Code section is reasonably aimed at achieving this goal and that the governance of the Village will be enhanced by enactment of the regulations set forth in this section.

AMEND §193-175A(1)(d):

After the word “drainage” add “change of windows, siding, painting or any work of a major character”.

AMEND §193-177 Exceptions: Change the numbers “2,500” to “10,000” and “10,000” to “20,000”.

Their Northeast Region (Long Island Chapter) is located right in Medford, however they have six regions across the country and serve all 50 states.

Did you know that National Puppy Day is March 23rd? Canine Companions will be celebrating with a live puppy cam from 9ammidnight, featuring eight-week-old future service dogs. You can tune in to watch this litter of very special puppies as they romp and play, eat and sleep and begin their lifechanging journeys. A.R.M.S. Club recently joined representatives from Legislator Kevin McCaffrey’s office and Village of Lindenhurst Mayor

Michael Lavorata to be awarded Certificates of Recognition for their commitment to serving

others in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District. Their efforts were responsible for the distribution of over 140 new backpacks filled with essential school supplies this past year.

The South Shore Audubon Society has begun accepting applications for two $1000 Environmental Scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded to college juniors, seniors, or graduate students earning a degree in areas of biological or environmental science, or sustainable and renewable energy .

For the Evelyn and Jerry Bishop Environmental Scholarship, applicants must be residents of

one of the areas listed at www.ssaudubon. org/areas-we-serve.asp and/or attend a college in Nassau or Suffolk County.

For the Jay Koolpix, Environmental Scholarship, applicants must be residents of Nassau County and/ or attend a college in Nassau or Suffolk County.

May 31,2023 is the deadline for submission of applications. Completed applications include a brief explanation of the

reason for applying for the scholarship and the plan to use the money, a copy of the most recent transcript of grades, and at least one letter of recommendation. Applicants may apply for both scholarships but cannot be awarded more than one. to provide support, leadership, and direction to Educational Bus Transportation’s operating locations throughout Long Island.
