Deer Park High School Unveils Wall Of Honor Honoring Alumni Veterans
tribute to the school’s alumni who honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces following
graduation. Constructed by the school’s Patriot Club, the Wall of Honor recognizes graduates
who answered the call to serve in the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and
U.S. Coast Guard. The unveiling ceremony brought together veterans, families, students, staff and community members to celebrate the service and sacrifice of these distinguished alumni.
The vision for the Wall of Honor was first developed in 2017 by former Patriot Club adviser Laurie Osbern. After years of research, data collection, club fundraising efforts, renovation delays and dedication from countless individuals, the project was finally brought to fruition with the guidance of current club advisers Joe Alo and Lisa Kiernan.
The Wall of Honor now stands as a permanent reminder of the courage, commitment and patriotism demonstrated by Deer Park graduates who have served the nation with honor.
“This display is an
important reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women who served our country,” Osbern said. “I believe that supporting and honoring our veterans should rise above personal beliefs and politics, because their service helped secure the freedoms and opportunities we all enjoy today. Its placement in the main lobby of our high school makes that message especially meaningful, as it will be seen every day by students, staff, families and community members. I hope it encourages reflection and a greater appreciation for the sacrifices that have helped shape the lives we are fortunate to live. It is a small but meaningful way to express our gratitude and ensure their contributions are never forgotten.”

Listening To Jazz Music
The New Orleans Musicians Clinic reports that listening to jazz music can expand blood vessels by up to 30 percent. Widening of blood vessels increases blood flow and lowers blood pressure. Maintaining a healthy blood pressure is important, as the Mayo Clinic notes that unchecked high blood pressure can lead to complications such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and/or dementia.
Deer Park High School Celebrates Seniors And Their Paths On Decision Day
Deer Park High School proudly celebrated its seniors on Decision Day, held May 1. Students showed off their next steps in life by wearing apparel representing their chosen paths, including college, military service, trade programs and employment. Seniors gathered in the school’s Rock Gym for a fun and memorable celebration featuring music, a photo booth with school
flags, and themed snacks such as “Smart Cookies” and “Honor Roll” treats. Activities included a “Guess the Teacher” slideshow with baby and high school photos submitted by staff, as well as games like Jenga and an interactive spinthe-wheel station where students could win prizes such as college swag and stickers, or participate in mini challenges and “Would You Rather” prompts. The
event created a lively and meaningful opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements together.
“Decision Day celebrates that every student’s path is unique,” Associate Principal Dr. Dina Pannone said. “We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to all the great things they will accomplish in the future.”

FourLeaf Air Show And Fireworks At Jones Beach
FourLeaf Federal Credit Union and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are proud to announce the 2026 FourLeaf Air Show and Fireworks at Jones Beach, a three-day celebration of America’s 250th anniversary taking place over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The celebration will begin on Saturday, July 4, with the FourLeaf America 250 Fireworks at Jones Beach, followed by the FourLeaf Air Show on Sunday, July 5 and Monday, July 6. Together, the events will create one of New York State’s signature Semiquincentennial celebrations, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to Jones Beach for a weekend honoring the nation’s history, military service and spirit of independence.
As announced by Governor Kathy Hochul as part of New York State’s America 250 commemoration, the special holiday weekend will combine two of Long Island’s most anticipated summer traditions - the FourLeaf Air Show at Jones Beach, one of the nation’s most preeminent air shows and a cherished Long Island institution, and a spectacular beachfront fireworks display - for a once in a generation celebration.
U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be joined by distinguished military demonstration teams from Canada and the United Kingdom. This historic international collaboration will create a display unlike anything previously seen at Jones Beach and one of the most distinctive air show lineups ever presented in the United States.
The 2026 lineup includes the first-ever New York appearance of the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, one of the world’s most renowned aerial demonstration teams, and the return of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds to Long Island for the first time since 2018. Also joining the celebration from the United Kingdom will be the British Army Parachute Display Team – Red Devils. Additional U.S. military performers include the United States Army Golden Knights, the 106th Rescue Wing, and the 105th Airlift Wing featuring the C-17 Globemaster III flyover.
Jones Beach into one of New York’s signature destinations for America’s Semiquincentennial celebration,” said George Gorman, Regional Director of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. “With the Blue Angels returning, international performers joining the lineup, and our annual fireworks spectacular lighting up the shoreline, these will be the perfect events for families to celebrate our country’s history at one of Long Island’s most iconic locations.”
from Jones Beach and surrounding areas.
The FourLeaf Air Show App is now available for 2026, newly redesigned to keep users in the know about all the events lined up to celebrate America’s 250th this Fourth of July weekend. When users open the app, they will now see “Featured Events” and “Featured Performers”. From there, users can explore all other categories by clicking on the icon in the top left corner and get more information on performers, sponsors, FAQs, and more.
Fans can also tune in to the live air show broadcast on WHLI 1100 AM and WHLI 104.7 FM for live playby-play coverage throughout the performances, offering narration and updates for spectators watching

“The 2026 FourLeaf Air Show at Jones Beach will be one of the most memorable events in our history as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary right here on Long Island,” said Linda Armyn, President and CEO of FourLeaf Federal Credit Union. “From the Blue Angels soaring overhead to the fireworks over Jones Beach on Independence Day, this special weekend will celebrate the spirit of our nation and bring families together for an unforgettable tribute to American pride and tradition.”
The celebration continues with a truly extraordinary international salute to America’s 250th anniversary at the FourLeaf Air Show on July 5 and 6. Returning to Long Island for their 11th headliner performance, the
