Deer Park Triple Jumper Kayla Beaumont Ranks Second In State

Deer Park High School triple jump athlete Kayla Beaumont, who graduated in June, capped off a remarkable season with the second-best mark in New York State, county and section championships, All-State and All-American recognition, and Deer Park’s indoor and outdoor triple jump school records. These accomplishments

are even more impressive considering she underwent total reconstructive knee surgery less than two years ago.

At the Section XI triple jump championship, Beaumont jumped 40 feet, 8.5 inches to extend her own school record. She also recorded a personal best of 17 feet, 6.5 inches in the long jump, finishing fourth overall in Section XI.

Beaumont then made her third trip to the state championship, held at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester, where she concluded her Falcons career with a second-place finish in New York State and fourth overall in the federation, earning AllState honors.

She wrapped up her season at the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, where she soared 41 feet, 2.25 inches to place third

Town of Babylon Officials Join Nation In Celebrating America’s Historic 250th Birthday

The Town of Babylon proudly joined communities across the nation in celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking a historic milestone in the story of the United States of America.

Town officials gathered alongside representatives from every level of government for a commemorative photograph honoring America’s Semiquincentennial and reflecting on the principles that have guided the nation for two and a half centuries— faith, freedom, democracy, and the enduring belief that all people are created equal.

Councilman Terence McSweeney said the occasion served as a reminder of both the extraordinary blessings of American citizenship and the sacrifices that made those blessings possible.

“It was a tremendous honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with my colleagues from every level of government as we celebrated the 250th Birthday of the United States of America,” said McSweeney. “For 250 years, America has stood as the greatest beacon of freedom, opportunity, and hope the world has ever known. The liberties we enjoy today were secured through the courage and sacrifice of generations of

patriots who placed love of country above self. On this historic anniversary, we honor our Founding Fathers, our veterans, our active-duty military, our first responders, and every American who works each day to strengthen this nation. We have been blessed to inherit the greatest country on Earth, and it is our solemn duty to preserve that legacy for our children and grandchildren.”

Town of Babylon

Supervisor Rich Schaffer said the nation’s 250th birthday is an opportunity for Americans to celebrate their shared history while looking confidently toward the future.

“Today we celebrate not only the birth of our nation, but the enduring ideals of freedom, liberty, and opportunity that have defined America for 250 years,” said Supervisor Rich Schaffer. “We are forever grateful to the brave men and women who fought for our independence, defended our Constitution, and continue to protect our freedoms at home and abroad. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed—it is earned, protected, and passed from one generation to the next.

As we commemorate this remarkable milestone, let us continue working together to ensure that the American

Dream remains alive for generations to come.”

As Americans gathered in communities across the country to celebrate Independence Day, Town officials encouraged residents to reflect on

the courage of those who forged the nation in 1776, remember the heroes who have defended its freedoms throughout history, and recommit themselves to the values that continue to make the United States a

shining example of liberty and democracy throughout the world.

The Town of Babylon proudly joins millions of Americans in celebrating 250 years of independence, sacrifice, patriotism, and freedom. Happy 250th Birthday, America. May God continue to bless the United States of America, and may God bless all those who proudly defend her.

Make A Positive Impact In Kids’ Lives

It has been 41 years since Whitney Houston sang the lyrics, “I believe the children are our future,” but the sentiment still stands strong today. Investing in the success and well-being of children is one of the most impactful things a person can do for the future of society. Research increasingly points to the quality of a child’s environment and his or her relationships as important components of development. There are certain ways adults can fundamentally alter a child’s long-term outcomes for the better.

The power of presence

The adage presence over presents remains true. A critical factor in the

healthy development of children is the presence of at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive adult, says a 2024 review in Child Health Nursing Research. Instability can greatly affect a child, and the 2024 review points to the foster care system to support that assertion. Each additional move a child makes in foster care is associated with weaker attachment formation and a heightened risk of mental health problems. Consistency and being around for children are the most positive things adults can do for kids.

Emotional resilience is the ability to adapt to challenges, manage stress and recover from setbacks. It is important for children’s lifelong success, says the Center of the Developing Child at Harvard University. Adults can encourage proactive problem-solving and not jump in to “fix”

from countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, South Korea and the United States.

The honor follows a tremendous freshman season for Myrick. He accounted for more than 825 yards of total offense and scored 12 touchdowns, finishing with 416 rushing yards, 396 receiving yards and 15 passing yards. He also made an impact on defense with three interceptions.

For his outstanding play, Myrick earned All-County honors and was the only freshman selected to the All-State team.

“We are extremely proud of Christian and all he has achieved both on and off the field,” coach Cody Ciolino said. “This exciting opportunity will allow him to demonstrate his abilities and represent himself and Deer Park on a national stage.”

everything. They also can teach stress management techniques and model positive coping strategies. Educating children that others have different goals and feelings can help them better navigate socially.

Provide the support needed Ensuring that kids have access to the educational tools they need is key to

their success. According to a 2018 study that examined the impact of early childhood education, children who receive early intervention services before age three demonstrate significantly higher academic achievement by the third grade. Early intervention is a system of support and services for young children with

developmental delays or disabilities. Even children who do not need EI should be exposed to a wide array of educational materials so they can foster a love of learning.

Children can benefit from certain behaviors and interventions that can result in positive changes for the future.
