Lacrosse Team Brings Cheer The men’s lacrosse team from Farmingdale State College and Team 91 joined forces to bring holiday cheer to students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities at the Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center.

Over 50 members from the men’s lacrosse team

and Team 91 attended the event, bringing holiday cheer and gifts! All the gifts were purchased and donated by the teams with each student’s needs in mind.

There are two schools of thought relating to this; the first is that things have the ability to change in the blink of an eye, to take on an entirely new, often unexpected

direction. This can be in the form of a beautiful surprise, or a tragic turn; there is simply no telling. We are well aware of these possibilities.

In fact, we will often remark how grateful we should be for the present, how appreciative of our blessings and those whom we love dearly. And yet, somewhere along the way, we tend to forget how very lucky we are.

Caring for Golf Physical education instructors Gary Levitan and Matthew Rich at the John H. West Elementary School in the Plainedge School District hosted a miniature golf fundraiser

to benefit NYPD CARES on December 18th.

The pair typically host holiday miniature golf for the students, but extended it to staff as a fundraiser for the organization this year.

To date, more than $1,000 has been raised. NYPD CARES representatives also presented the school with a plaque in recognition for its fundraising efforts.

“Making spirits bright” was especially true when members of the women’s club (through the leadership of Rosemary Emigholz and Anna Ievolo) delivered 31 bags filled with toys, books, blankets, stuffed animals, warm clothes and toiletries to the Madonna Heights Homeless Shelter in Dix Hills on Wednesday, December 6th.

Then on Thursday, December 7th, the women’s club held its annual Christmas Party at the Bethpage Country Club chaired by Barbara Hoerner and her committee – Loda Romanelli and Rosemary Trudden where guests enjoyed “a capello” caroling by members. The club congratulated two of its members for accepting

positions for 20182020 with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs – NYS (GFWC-NYS): Barbara Hoerner, Public Issues and club president Tina Diamond, Island Metro District Director.

The following day on Friday, December 8th, Rosemary & George Emigholz invited members and friends to their Holiday Open House and Christmas Village Display. Guests enjoyed many homemade breads and cookies, as well as an annual favorite of mulled apple cider prepared by Anna Ievolo.

Saturday, December 9th, found women’s club members at the Farmingdale Public Library, sewing “Made with Love” labels on handmade aphgans and

lapghans which will be distributed by the General Needs Organization to homeless veterans. The mission of this wonderful organization is to provide the basic necessities that are missing in the everyday lives of our needy veterans.

Another annual tradition took place on Monday, December 11th, when members of the WCF, St. Kilian’s Choir and friends took the time to visit with the members of the Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center, regaling them with traditional Christmas carols.

She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, North Lindenhurst, NY 11757 or by mail, beginning December 2017 daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Tax Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. First half taxes are due December 1st, 2017, payable to January 10th, 2018 without penalty.

After January 10th, 2018, one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31st, 2018, after which date additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, NY 11901.
