“As we approach the holiday season, we want residents to be certain that donations made out of the goodness of their hearts are going to the intended place,” added Councilman Imbroto. “Overall, just be cautious and remain vigilant to protect yourself, protect your personal information and protect your wellintentioned donations.”

The Farmingdale Fire Department is having a holiday raffle fundraiser through Dec. 31, this year since the Columbus Weekend Fair was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fundraiser is designed to help the Farmingdale Fire Department and Farmingdale Merchants.

The holiday raffle tickets are offered for a $30 donation per raffle ticket. There will be 62 winners, two winners each day during the month of December, and raffle participants can win multiple times.

The Fire Department is using the NY State Numbers Game for the winning numbers. Mid Day winners win $100 in Farmingdale Merchants gift cards, and evening numbers win cash

prizes.

Residents should be aware of the following warning signs: • Collection bins with no identification • Overflowing, nonmaintained donation bins • Donations being requested over the phone • Acknowledgement of a donation never made • Requests for personal identification, including social security number Town officials have removed these illegallyplaced bins in the past after learning that donations were allegedly being improperly collected and sold for profit.

All children who send letters to Santa will receive a reply in the form of a “SantaGram” from the North Pole, with Santa’s elves at the Parks Department pitching in to send cheery but noncommittal letters in response to children’s letters. To assure a reply, each letter must contain the child’s name and address, written legibly. There is no postage necessary for the Santa letters. The “SantaGrams” will be sent before the holiday.

Colorful red and green mailboxes will be accessible from 10am to 4pm daily.

Notice is hereby given taxpayers of the Town of Babylon, that the Undersigned Receiver of Taxes has received the 2020/2021 Tax and Assessment Roll and Warrant.

She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. Lindenhurst, N.Y. 11757 or by mail, beginning December 2020 daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Tax Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. First half taxes are due December 1, 2020 payable to January 10, 2021 without penalty.

After January 10, 2021 one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31, 2021 after which date, additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901.

The Town of Babylon Tax Office will be accepting partial payments with penalty. We offer e-check and credit card payment through a telephone service or by the internet which includes American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. For payments by telephone call 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800272-9829) or visit the web site at www.officialpayments.com. At the prompt, use Jurisdiction Code 4232. You must have your item number and tax amount available.

Transaction fees will be charged to the taxpayer based on the amount of the total charge.

Saladino Announces Virtual GAP Program for Developmentally-Disabled Residents Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently announced that Town’s Group Activities Program (GAP), open to residents age 5 and over with developmental

disabilities, is going fully virtual beginning in January. The GAP program, which is administered through the Town’s Department of Community and Youth Services,

provides a unique socialrecreational experience for developmentally-disabled children and adults.

“The Town of Oyster Bay is proud to offer this wonderful program, which

consists of game nights, entertainment nights, and even virtual field trips,” stated Supervisor Saladino.

“These experiences provide a safe means of interaction and offer both children

and adults a wonderful opportunity.”

The program runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and is open to Town of Oyster Bay residents.

Winter Yoga Classes Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Michele Johnson recently announced that residents seeking a low-impact and enjoyable fitness activity are encouraged take part in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Yoga Classes, which will be held in January and February. Classes are co-ed and open to individuals 18 years of age or older.

“The Town is proud to offer residents a variety of programs and services including these yoga classes which offer benefits to the mind, body and soul,” said Councilwoman Johnson. “Yoga builds strength, increases general flexibility and is considered a great stress reliever. Sign up today and use this opportunity to also meet new friends that can last

Beginning January 4th, Yoga Classes will run for 10-weeks on Sundays (9am-10am) at the Hicksville Athletic Center, Mondays (10am-11am) at the Hicksville Athletic Center, Tuesdays (8pm-9pm) at the Hicksville Athletic Center, and Saturdays (9am-10am) at the Ice Skating Center in Bethpage.

Registration is at the Hicksville Athletic Center on Wednesday, December 16th (5:30pm – 9:30pm) and Thursday, December 17th (5:30pm – 9:30pm).

The fee for residents is $60 and $70 for non-residents.

Please note that the schedule may be subject to change and

Preservation Long Island, a regional preservation advocacy nonprofit, is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the 2021 Endangered Historic Places Program (EHPP).

Nominations are open to the public and can be submitted digitally through the EHPP 2021 portal on Preservation Long Island’s website. All nominations must be received by Friday, December 18, 2020.

Do you know of an endangered historic place in your Long Island community? Preservation Long Island’s Endangered Historic Places Program (EHPP) offers Long Islanders an opportunity to advocate for preservation priorities in their communities while learning how to use tools like landmark designation, tax incentives, and public outreach.

Our EHPP listing partners receive technical assistance

and advocacy support as they work to preserve at-risk historic places threatened by a variety of adverse conditions, from outright demolition to the lack of sustainable long-term stewardship plans.

EHPP listings are featured on Preservation Long Island’s website and social media. Listed sites may serve as locations for our Preservation in Progress Tour series, which highlights ongoing preservation projects at historic places throughout the region. We also support our listing partners in developing informational materials such as leaflets or brochures outlining the history of a site and its preservation needs.

Listings are selected by a panel of Preservation Long Island staff, experts in architecture, historic preservation, and other related fields, as well as

members of Preservation Long Island’s Board of Trustees.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Significance: A nominated site must be historically, culturally, or architecturally significant and may encompass individual buildings, landscapes, structures, or any grouping thereof.

However, the nominated site need not be listed on the National/State Registers of Historic Places or designated as a local landmark.

Threat: The existence and/ or integrity of the nominated site must be seriously threatened. In addition to planned demolition, threats can include a pattern of neglect or exposure that will inevitably lead to loss; the planned introduction of harmful factors or insensitive redevelopment that will substantially diminish the context or setting; or inappropriate

maintenance/alterations resulting in the loss of material integrity.

Impact: EHPP listing will have a positive impact on efforts to protect the nominated site.

The nomination demonstrates substantive community interest in preservation of the site. Local listing partners are sufficiently organized and prepared to advocate for preservation goals.

Nomination materials should be submitted online via our website at preservationlongisland.org.

Nominations submitted after Friday, December 18, 2020, will not be accepted.
