Registration Begins September 7th – Space Limited Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Michele Johnson recently announced that the popular Toddler Arts & Crafts Program will be offered again this Fall, beginning on October 18, 2022. This 6-week program offers classes at the Town’s Ice Skating Center Community Room in Bethpage and at the Hicksville Athletic Center, and is open to children ages 2 through 4.

“The Town’s Toddler Arts & Crafts Program is a wonderful way to help support your toddler’s development by nurturing their artistic expression,” said Councilwoman Johnson. “Classes will certainly fill up quickly as this program offers children an opportunity to meet others their age and explore their creativity.”

Turning the Village of Massapequa Park Purple in honor of those we have lost, supporting those struggling with the disease of addiction and those in recovery. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced that registration will be opening soon for the Town’s Spring Youth Dek Hockey League both online and in person. The league is open to boys and girls ages 6-12, and will begin on Monday, September 12th. Dek hockey is a variation of traditional ice hockey, where the games are played without skates on the ‘dek’ of an ice rink after the ice has melted away for the season. The season will feature 10 games, weekly practices, and an end-ofseason playoff competition. Openings are also available for Dek Hockey coaches for the fall 2022 season.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilwoman Laura Maier announced that the Town is partnering with Long Island United for Recovery to host their 7th annual walk, taking place on Sunday, September 18th, at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Checkin begins at 10:30 a.m. for an 11 a.m. walk start time. The event will be held rain or shine.

“We invite all residents to join us at this event, which will honor those who have lost their battle, encourage advocacy and awareness to create change, support those in the flight, and celebrate those in recovery,” said Supervisor Saladino. “We thank Long Island United for Recovery for all of their efforts to bring resources together to support those in need.”

Participants in the walk will be supporting those struggling with the disease of addiction, and celebrating those in recovery and their family members. The event will have a resource fair, banner signing, recovery speakers as well as a DJ, free raffles, giveaways, activities for children, and refreshments.

Historically high fuel prices will undoubtedly prove to be one of the defining stories of 2022. As the average price for a gallon of gas reached heights drivers might never have imagined as recently as February 2022, some might have wondered just how much that same gallon might have cost roughly 100 years ago. According to the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, the average price for a gallon of gas in 1929 was 21 cents.
