After an AccidentWhat to do? (Part I)

There are procedures to take at the scene of an accident; call police, exchange information, file a claim, etc.

But, what do you do AFTER you have left the scene of an accident? What are your next steps to get a repair and keep your expenses down?

The first obstacle you will face is filing your claim. Do you file with your insurer or the other party? If they hit you, you will want them to pay for the cost of repairs, a rental car and incidental expenses. Ideally, you will file with them and they’ll immediately take over responsibility for your expenses. Of course, life is not ideal. You should expect delays. Expect them. Don’t be impatient. The other company MUST reach their insured and

debrief them. Then, they must go through steps to assign responsibility, whether fully or in part. And, if the case is not cut and dried, the process may take years.

If you are injured, then you MUST file with your own insurance company. New York is a No-Fault State. This is a misnomer.

No-Fault means that, regardless of who is at fault, your own insurer will take care of your medical claims.

If you file the Collision claim with your company then they may go after the other company (a process called subrogation), but you will have to lay out your deductible and for rental expenses until a decision is made.

God’s Way Foundation Is Donating 1000 Free Backpacks To New York City & Long Island Children In Celebration Of In-School Learning!

This year’s ‘Backto-School Giveaway Celebration’ is scheduled to take place on August 12th, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be hosted in front of Freeport Retro Fitness at 131 West. Sunrise Highway Freeport, NY 11520.

Come join God’s Way Foundation’s “Back-ToSchool Celebration II” as they come together to make a difference in the lives of low-income children. They will be donating 1000 FREE HighEnd backpacks filled with essential school supplies, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed academically. Not only will the kids receive high-quality backpacks, but they will also be treated to an array of exciting activities.

A Mobile Video Game Truck will be on-site, providing an immersive gaming experience

that will captivate the young ones and let their imaginations run wild. And what’s a celebration without beloved Disney Princesses and Superheroes; courtesy of the “New York Avengers”?

This event is not just about celebrating the start of a new school year but also about fostering a sense of community and support for families in need. By coming together, a profound impact can be made on the lives of these children, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Furthermore, to encourage literacy and summer reading, books are included, one book, graciously donated by “The Book Fairies” of Freeport, inside of each of the 1000 backpacks they will be donating!

The foundation donates backpacks which the children will both identify with and carry with them

for multiple years, to ease the financial strain on parents. Parents will receive swag bags with a packet of information containing free resources directing them to service centers where they may receive aid from locations such as food pantries, emergency housing, local churches, and more. At God’s Way Foundation, they believe that durable supplies are a key component of ‘student preparedness.’ Children growing up in low-income households often lack the quality items necessary for proper schooling due to their parents ’ financial hardships. Their mission is to give the children a stress-free day of cost-free fun.
