Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilwoman Michele Johnson invite residents to participate in a special Oyster Bay Harbor & Beach Cleanup, scheduled for Saturday, April 17th. The event is co-sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay, the North Oyster Bay Baymen’s Association (NOBBA) and Friends of the Bay. Preregistration is necessary.

“This great environmental cleanup initiative features volunteers and Town employees rolling up their sleeves and working sideby-side to remove litter and debris from the beaches and shoreline areas along Oyster Bay Harbor,” Supervisor Saladino said. “We invite

residents of all ages to pitch in and help make a difference in our community!”

Volunteers are invited to participate in the cleanup, which will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The central meeting place will be Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park launching ramps and waterfront gazebo off of Larrabee Avenue, Oyster Bay. Additional locations for the clean-up include Theodore Roosevelt Beach in Oyster Bay, Stehli Beach in Bayville and Centre Island Beach in Bayville.

Councilwoman Johnson stated, “Each year, countless amounts of paper, food, plastics and other trash are discarded on beaches or dumped overboard from recreational and commercial vessels. National Drug Takeback Day to Properly Dispose of Old Medications

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently announced that the Town, in partnership with Drug Free Long Island and the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD), will host a ‘Shed the Meds’ event at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa on Saturday, April 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“The Town of Oyster Bay is proud to partner with Drug Free LI and the Nassau County Police Department on this important initiative to keep prescription drugs out of the wrong hands,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Through proper disposal of old medications, we can prevent

them from contaminating the environment through improper disposal and also keep them out of the hands of young people.”

The event will take place at Marjorie Post Park (off Unqua Road in Massapequa), in the parking lot near the community center. This program is anonymous. For those who cannot make it to the event, the Nassau County Police Department would like to remind residents that disposal containers are located at all Police Precincts throughout the county for safe deposit. Additionally, proper social distancing measures will be in place due to the ongoing

pandemic.

For those looking to turn in unused or expired medication, please make sure of the following: If left in original container, please remove all personal information from label.

Liquid medication will not be accepted Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and syringes are not accepted.
