This year we are going to try a Halloween house decorating contest where the local residents can vote on the four best homes and win prizes.

If it is successful, we will do a similar contest for the holiday house decorating in December.

A small team of artists hand-carves more than 7,000 jacks and elaborate pumpkin sculptures, including huge displays like a replica of the

Montauk Lighthouse and a giant sea serpent.

In addition to its debut on Long Island, the Blaze is continuing in its 16th year at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-onHudson, NY, a National Historic Landmark owned and operated by Historic Hudson Valley. To meet demand, the organization is adding extra dates there as well.

Blaze takes place entirely outdoors, is touch-free, uses timed admission, and features a one-way walkthrough path with no places to congregate.

Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh recently announced a new volunteer program that helps protect the lives of senior citizens. The Town of Oyster Bay is calling on students to volunteer in helping senior citizens register for Smart911, a free public safety service offered by the Nassau County Police Department that allows residents to provide 911 emergency call takers and emergency responders with one’s health condition, prescription medicines and other important medical information.

Councilwoman Walsh stated “With many senior citizens not utilizing a computer, this volunteer initiative allows students help their aging neighbors register lifesaving information with the Nassau County Police Department and ensure the highest level of emergency response during a critical time. The information we submit to Smart911 enables first responders to make better decisions more quickly when taking your call and arriving at your home during an emergency.”

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Steve Labriola recently announced that Trainville Hobby Depot has postponed its Model Train Show scheduled for

Saturday, November 21st and Sunday, November 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hicksville Community Center, located at 28 West Carl Street in Hicksville. The Model Train Show has

been rescheduled for the weekend of March 13-14, 2021 and includes several operating layouts from local clubs coordinated by Trainville Hobby Depot.

Admission in to the exhibit is $5.00, children

ages 4-11 years are $3.00 and entry for children under that age of 4 is free.
