THE BOHLSEN GALLERY
In May, the Gallery and Display Cases will feature the work of Gary Fagerland. Mr. Fagerland focuses mainly on seascapes in acrylic on canvas and glass. These shoreline-inspired paintings are just in time for the beach season.
In June, the Gallery and Display Cases will feature the work of Kathleen Gremli. Ms. Gremli combs the seashore for the materials that make up her magnificent creations. Come see these beautiful island-inspired pieces using shells, driftwood and sea glass.

High School Academic Team Clinches Top Spot On Long Island
East Islip High School’s junior varsity academic team recently clinched a top spot at the 2024 Long Island Championship Quiz Bowl, held at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School. Forty-four high schools from Nassau and Suffolk counties competed in the event, with East Islip’s JV team now ranking among the elite at #19 on Long Island.
This was only the third appearance for East Islip in the Long Island Championship, and the team proved to be a strong contender against several powerhouse schools. Team members included the best and brightest in the high school: Lucas Atunes, Liam Eichler, Lance Enriquez, Ryan Flad, Brandon Fray,
Erica Huang, Kevin Huang, Shazaib Khan and Jesse Najera.
“The students devoted many hours to team practice and study to qualify for the championship, and their dedication and persistent effort paid off,” adviser Lisa Rapiejko said. “We are looking forward to continued success in the future.”

Legislator Donnelly And County Office For The Aging Announce Islip Spring Senior Advocate Schedule
Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to inform Islip residents about the local Suffolk County Office for the Aging Spring 2024 Senior Advocate Schedule. Senior advocates are County representatives who come out into the community and assist seniors with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.
“This is an excellent chance for senior citizens to get the assistance and information they need by connecting with the County’s senior advocates right in their own communities,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I hope all those interested in the services that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides will take advantage
of this opportunity.”
