Good, Old-Fashioned Yard Sale

Everyone loves a good, old-fashioned yard sale. The people of the Islip United Methodist Church, 350 Main Street, Islip, especially love yard sales! For the past ten years, the members of the Methodist

Church have held a huge, church-wide garage sale to raise money for their various mission projects.

$2,000 Scholarship

Lustgarten Foundation

The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC) announces a $2,000 scholarship for college juniors/seniors or post graduate students who are studying Journalism, Marketing/ Communications, or Healthcare Administration. (The scholarship is not for clinical-based study.)

The Ann Marie Brown Memorial Scholarship honors the late Ann Marie Brown, who served as vice president for government and public relations for the Hospital Council from 1983 to 1993. The scholarship

is administered by the Hospital Council’s Communications Committee.

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to again join Long Island Cares and help it “rain food for cats and dogs” by hosting a pet food drive now through the end of May.

Legislator Donnelly’s district office is serving as a drop-off location for the 13th Legislative Pet Food Drive where much-needed pet food and supplies will be collected to benefit Baxter’s

Pet Food Drive For Baxter’s Pet Pantry

Pet Pantry of Long Island Cares (www.licares.org). In previous years, constituents of the 17th Legislative District have generously donated to this annual drive.

All donations go directly to Baxter’s Pantry. While 5 and 10 pound bags of dog and cat food, canned food, kitty litter and new pet toys are most needed, all pet nourishments are welcome including food for hamsters, fish, birds and ferrets. Items may be dropped off at Legislator Donnelly’s District Office, located at 130 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm until May 31. As per health code requirements, all pet food must be unopened and in original packaging. For more information or to make an appointment to

Senior Volunteers Recognized At Annual Breakfast

Patrons of the Town of Islip’s five senior centers were recognized at the annual Senior Volunteer Breakfast at Brookwood Hall recently. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter presented each of the volunteers with a certificate on behalf of the Town Board.

“Our volunteers certainly are the backbone of our Senior Centers.

It’s the smiling faces, energy and kindness of our volunteers that are the reason our members keep coming back, and that our Senior Centers are enjoyed by so many,” said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.
