Canine Companions is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people by providing highly trained service dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. They proudly o er their support services free of charge to recipients.

Their Northeast Region (Long Island Chapter) is located right in Medford, however they have six regions across the country and serve all 50 states.

Did you know that National Puppy Day is March 23rd? Canine Companions will be celebrating with a live puppy cam from 9ammidnight, featuring eight-week-old future service dogs. You can tune in to watch this litter of very special puppies as they romp and play, eat and sleep and begin their lifechanging journeys. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the following regulations will be in effect for the Special District Meeting for the East Islip Public Library to be held on April 4, 2023.

1. Identification and number of poll watchers.

Poll watchers shall be required to identify themselves to the District Clerk no less than seventy-two (72) hours prior to the election at which time they will be provided with an identification tag indicating “Poll Watcher.” Such previously identified poll watchers shall sign in with the District Clerk or her designee upon arrival at the polling place. One (1) poll watcher for each election district will be permitted per organization at any given time. No candidate may act as a poll watcher.

2. Voting booths.

Poll watchers will not be permitted behind the voting booths at any time during voting hours.

3. Location of poll watchers. An area, with a full view of the polls, will be designated for poll watchers.

4. Final vote tally.

Following the recording of the vote by the District Clerk and inspectors of election, poll watchers will be permitted time to view the voting totals. Poll watchers are not permitted behind the inspectors while the tally is being taken by the District Clerk and inspectors.

5. Miscellaneous.

Any questions regarding poll watchers are to be directed to the District Clerk, Stephanie Parker. All actions of poll watchers shall be unobtrusive and may in no manner interfere with the ordinary conduct of the voting.

America’s Boating Courses Being Offered To The Public

BRIANNA’S LAW has passed and is being implemented in five annual stages that began on January 1, 2020 – depending on the age of the boat captain. All power boat operators will be required to obtain a NASBLA approved Safe Boating Certificate by January, 2025, regardless of age. So, now is the time to sign up for a Safe Boating Course to fulfill this requirement and to keep you, your friends, and family, as well as other boaters safe on our great waterways.

Don’t delay… get your certificate for the upcoming boating season! Offered by America’s Boating Club of the Great South Bay, you may register for one of these “America’s Boating Courses” on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:30am to 12:30pm, April 22, 2023 from 9:30am to 12:30pm, and April 29, 2023 from 9:30am to 1:30pm. All classes will be held at the West Islip Library, 3 Higbie Lane, West Islip, NY 11795, and is

available for adults and youth who are at least a 7th Grade reading level.

Boating Course Certificate, which is recognized nationally and never expires.
