FRENCH STUDENTS EXPERIENCE “VAN GOGH” - Students studying French at East Islip High School recently took a field trip to experience “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience,” a digital art exhibition on the famed Dutch painter held at Pier 36 NYC. The students meandered through large rooms where Van Gogh’s works were projected on expansive wall and floors, offering a true 360-degree experience. Fine Art Exhibition At Mills Pond Gallery Jan. 29 – Feb. 26, 2022 Smithtown Township Arts Council is pleased to present The Long Island Landscape-from Awe to Action January 29 – February 26 at Mills Pond Gallery. The public is invited to an opening reception Saturday January 29, 12 - 4 pm to meet the exhibiting artists and view their work. Free Transportation Through ‘Ride United’ United Way of Long Island recently launched ‘Ride United’ to help local residents access transportation to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the rideshare service Lyft. The program is part of United Way Worldwide’s Ride United Vaccine Access Campaign, which addresses unmet transportation needs for individuals and families.

Long Island residents participating in ‘Ride United’ receive 2 free Lyft rides (up to $25 each way) to and from vaccination appointments located in Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Riders must download the Lyft app on a supported device and have an active Lyft account.

“United Way of Long Island is committed to keeping our communities safe and healthy. Ride United removes barriers of transportation inequity, ensuring that any Long Islander seeking to get vaccinated can get to and from their

appointment without cost,” said Theresa A. Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island.

Ride United expands upon the organization’s COVID-19 response efforts. United Way of Long Island has helped seniors, veterans and families receive emergency financial assistance, fresh groceries, PPE items and HEPA air purifiers to improve their health, well-being and financial security during the pandemic. The Benefits Of Leisure Activities Leisure activities may be widely viewed as fun ways to fill up free time, but the benefits of leisure activities extend beyond beating boredom. activities. Aging adults who embrace activities that require the use of such skills may find that they’re not only finding stimulating ways to fill their free time, but increasing their chances of long-term cognitive health as well.

as clinical trials. However, that does not mean women diagnosed with breast cancer should automatically sign up to participate in clinical trials.

There are pros and cons to participating in clinical trials, and breast cancer patients can speak with their medical teams about the advantages and disadvantages of each trial they’re considering.

One myth worth dispelling

is that clinical trials are only an option for people who have been diagnosed with advanced stage cancer.
