LEGAL NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS Notice is hereby given taxpayers of the Town of Babylon, that the Undersigned Receiver of Taxes has received the 2020/2021 Tax and Assessment Roll and Warrant.

She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. Lindenhurst, N.Y. 11757 or by mail, beginning December 2020 daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Tax Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. First half taxes are due December 1, 2020 payable to January 10, 2021 without penalty.

After January 10, 2021 one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31, 2021 after which date, additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901.

The Town of Babylon Tax Office will be accepting partial payments with penalty. We offer e-check and credit card payment through a telephone service or by the internet which includes American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. Applebee’s locations in Long Island recently announced the 22nd annual fundraising campaign to raise funds in support of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, which distributes new toys to as many underprivileged children as possible to provide a tangible sign of hope during the Christmas season.

This year, Applebee’s is providing guests with multiple ways to make a child’s Christmas! For a limited time only you can buy Tots for Tots by adding tater tots to any order for just a $3 donation. Guests can also round up their checks or donate a dollar amount to show their support. One hundred percent of the donation proceeds will be donated directly to the Marine

Christmas tree can make all the difference in the world to a family going through hard times right now,” according to Michelle and David Fein, who started the project in 2010. “This turned out to be such a happy accident for us, that it’s a thrill to be doing it again.”

“In this season of giving,” CBS news correspondent Alex Wagner explained last year, “One Colorado couple never expected that donating their old Christmas tree would lead to a heartwarming annual tradition.” Watch.

The entire project

sprang quite serendipitously from a simple one-line Craigslist ad the Feins posted to give away their artificial Christmas tree in 2010.

They were contacted by 20 people in less than a few hours telling them their stories and vying for that one tree, that Michelle and David decided they had to try to meet the demand.

They told their friends, and soon the word spread.

The story touched a nerve in the Colorado Springs community, and hundreds of people contacted The Christmas Tree Project to donate and request

trees, as well as volunteer to help. By the time the first season it was all over, more than 300 trees had been given away.

In a world troubled economically and divided politically, it may even seem a bit surprising.

“It’s been overwhelming to see the vast reservoirs of energy and generosity that exist today when you simply offer people a chance to become involved and contribute, even in a small way,” added the Feins.

“And it’s incredibly humbling to see the gratitude small acts of kindness produce.”

“It will be my daughter’s first Christmas and we just don’t have the $$ for a tree.”
