Legislator Donnelly Joins Community At Deer Park Fall Festival

Secured $5,000 County Grant For Annual Event

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) recently joined enthusiastic residents from near and far, as well as dignitaries and other local leaders, at the annual Deer Park Community Association (DPCA) Fall Festival at Geiger Park. This year’s festival was held in conjunction with the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce.

Legislator Donnelly again secured a $5,000 Suffolk County cultural grant for the free family fun day which draws

hundreds of people. He was honored to serve as the Grand Marshal and Master of Ceremonies at the September 10 event. Fellow elected officials who joined him included Babylon Councilmen DuWayne Gregory, Terry McSweeney and Anthony Manetta and New York State Senator Monica Martinez. The admission-free festival featured vendors, live entertainment, food trucks, a pumpkin patch and much more. It also included a special ceremony that honored the memory of September 11

and our first responders.

“The Deer Park Fall Festival is a staple of the Deer Park Community and we all forward to it every year,” said Legislator Donnelly. “It was a wonderful day and the hard work of all the volunteers certainly showed. I was happy to be able to secure a County grant to help the DPCA offset some of the costs and express my appreciation to their leaders and members. Thank you to everyone who came out to help celebrate Deer Park. See you next year!”

Suffolk County Legislator Manuel Esteban’s Hindu-American Appreciation Day In Suffolk County

The Suffolk County Legislature approved a bill introduced by Suffolk County Legislator Manuel Esteban (R-Commack) designating October 18th as Hindu–American Appreciation Day in Suffolk County.

“Our Indian community is one of the pillars

of Suffolk County and I am proud to recognize them through this legislation,” said Esteban. “From this October and into the future, they will have a special day that honors their culture and importance in our community.”

The legislation was approved by the

members of the legislature. More than two dozen members of the Southeast Asian Community were present for the vote, with many voicing their appreciation of Esteban’s bill.
