Joe Fackler grew up living in Long Beach, New York he now lives and works in Massapequa. His life revolves around his family, selling Real Estate and Coaching Softball.

By 2018, along with many other accomplishments and awards, Joe was given the achievement of being recognized in “Top Agent Magazine” where specifically, he was noticed for being one of the top agents on Long Island.

He began coaching the Little League World Series team along with fellow coaches Dom Fontana and the team manager Rich Eaton. “Dom and Rich are the best of the best” Joe said.

One of his greatest interests since 2008, is serving as a coach for the Massapequa International Little League team where he also sits on the board of directors. He became interested in 2008 when he played father-daughter tee-ball with his then 3-year-old daughter Jessica.

Joe, like the other coaches, has a different style of helping the players in the time of need. When it comes to the games and practices, he wants the kids to win and feel proud of themselves. However, he always makes sure the kids are not stressed out about whether they win or lose.

“Remain calm. They’re kids. They’re going to make mistakes. Everybody wants to win but you have to stay calm,” he said. He believes in core values such as respect for both the players and the coaches. While coaches get a lot of recognition for their strategies within games and practices, the parents get to see a lot on the sidelines that many people don’t always see. “Joe brought a little more light to heavy practices... Coach Joe was the guy who had fun with them and gave them a different perspective,” said Josie Rios, the parent of Ava Rios, who played on Joe’s 2023 World Series Team. “He coached our kids without a kid on the team and he still coaches for the local little league. I think he just dedicates a lot of time to the love of the game. It just shows what kind of person

With hard work and lots of practices, the Massapequa Softball Little League team had the chance to participate in the World Series Championship game in Greenville North Carolina that took place on August 13, 2023.

“Our team jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back and took home the title of Little League World Series Champions, the team finished undefeated with 19 Wins and 0 Losses” Joe said “This was a major win for not only Massapequa but New York State as well. The game would be known as the first world series championship game to be won by any Little League softball team in New York State.

Coach Joe has been a true helper to these kids as they have been to him. While they get good training and a respectful coach, he gets to give back to the community which he loves so much. “He’s not just a coach to these girls, he’s their friend,” Rios said. Now Joe says its back to reality and back to work changing people’s lifestyles in the form of selling homes throughout Long Island. A Wonderful 100th Day Of School At Deer Park’s Elementaries

Deer Park’s John Quincy Adams Primary School and May Moore Primary School celebrated the 100th day of school on Feb. 8, dressing the part with enthusiasm.

May Moore’s annual tradition is for the school’s second-graders to dress as if they are 100 years old. The students also celebrated 100 days of learning by

participating in activities in which they count to 100, collecting 100 words and creating projects with 100 items. At JQA, each grade level celebrated the day in a different way.

Kindergarteners brought in 100th day projects that contained 100 items of their choosing, first graders dressed up like centenarians and second graders participated in

100th day rotating centers.

“We love to celebrate this day every year at JQA, and we all had a wonderful time,” JQA Principal Christopher Molinelli said.

“Our students had a fantastic time celebrating the 100th day of school,” May Moore Principal Tammy Alcalde said. “It is a fun day of learning and celebrating!”

NYS Breast Cancer Survivors Sought For Hotline

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program is seeking breast cancer survivors, both women and men, throughout New York State to train as volunteers for the hotline. The ZOOM training, each session from 10 am to 1 pm, is being held on four consecutive Mondays beginning March 11 (then March 18, March 25 and April 1) . Volunteers are asked to commit to all four sessions.

The hotline was established in 1980 by women who had been in a support group and wanted to help others. Today it is the oldest breast cancer hotline in the country. Says Lori F, a hotline volunteer

since 2022, “It is an indescribable feeling to give hope to someone who feels hopeless.”

Volunteer will receive on-line training in the following areas: community outreach, educational presentations, hotline, speaking engagements, publicity, and fundraising.

Legislator Donnelly And County Office For The Aging Announce Babylon Winter Senior Advocate Schedule

Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to inform Babylon residents about the local Suffolk County Office for the Aging Winter 2024 Senior Advocate Schedule. Senior advocates are County representatives who come out into the community and assist seniors with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.

“This is an excellent chance for senior citizens to get the assistance and information they need by connecting with the County’s senior advocates right in their own communities,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I hope all those interested in the services that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Pet Food Drive For Baxter’s Pet Pantry

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to again join Long Island Cares and help it “rain food for cats and dogs” by hosting a pet food drive now through the end of May.

Legislator Donnelly’s district office is serving as a drop-off location for the 13th Legislative Pet Food Drive where much-needed pet food and supplies will be collected to benefit Baxter’s Pet Pantry of Long Island Cares (www. licares.org). In previous years, constituents of the 17th Legislative District have generously donated to this annual drive.

All donations go directly to Baxter’s Pantry. While 5 and 10 pound bags of dog and cat food, canned food, kitty litter and new pet toys are most needed, all pet nourishments are welcome including food for hamsters, fish, birds and ferrets.
