Thanks to the tireless efforts of Northeast Elementary School social worker Jessenia Bermúdez, Northeast received a generous donation of turkeys from Stew Leonard’s to support families in need throughout the Amityville school community.
Ms. Bermúdez
coordinated the effort to ensure that families experiencing food insecurity would have access to a holiday meal.
Her commitment to student well-being and community outreach played a key role in securing multitudes of turkeys that will be distributed to households
throughout the school community.
The district extends its heartfelt gratitude to Stew Leonard’s for its generosity and to Ms. Bermúdez for her continued dedication to supporting families in the Amityville school community.

Northeast Elementary School in Amityville turned learning into a family celebration on Nov. 7 as students welcomed their grandparents into the classroom.
The school’s annual Grandparents Day gave visitors a chance not only to watch lessons unfold but to become part of the day’s activities alongside their grandchildren. Throughout the day, grandparents toured the pre-K and kindergarten classrooms, joining students at their tables and on the carpet for hands-
on fun. Guests helped the district’s youngest learners color pictures of grandmas and grandpas, assisted with seasonal crafts inspired by autumn, and settled in for cozy story time sessions.
The event created plenty of opportunities for smiles, shared creativity, and meaningful moments between generations — helping strengthen the connection between school, students and families.
