The West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition

For Long Island, Inc.

The West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for Long Island, Inc. (WIBCC) is a non-profit grassroots organization that was founded in 1992.

They work to eradicate Breast Cancer and gynecological cancers. Their mission is to provide support services to women undergoing treatment and requiring postmastectomy care with their “Lead A Helping Hand” program, and to actively promote cancer and environmental awareness with education, advocacy and outreach throughout the community.

To accomplish their mission, they focus on prevention, research, education, services, their Lend a Helping Hand program and awareness.

As like many other non-profit organizations, WIBCC holds various fundraising events throughout the year to gain awareness and collect funds in support of their mission. This September they are part of Stop & Shop’s Community Bag Program. WIBCC will receive a $1 donation every time a $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at 400 Union Blvd in West Islip, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

Additionally, they are participating in John’s Crazy Socks Giving Back Program, which started September 1st and will run through October 31st. John’s Crazy Socks is a fatherson social enterprise that was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down Syndrome and his love of colorful and fun socks, or what he calls his “crazy socks”.

Next month they will present Pink Flags of October, a month-long event to honor and remember those affected by Breast Cancer.

Hundreds of pink flags will be placed at the entrance of Good Samaritan Hospital. You have the opportunity to purchase a ribbon in honor of or in memory of someone whose life has been affected by Breast Cancer. These ribbons will be tied to the flags and together the flags and ribbons will fly for the entire month of October.

On Sunday, September 27 from 12-2PM at The Cancer Institute (111 Beach Drive in West Islip), there will be a ceremony to celebrate this month-long event, which will include health information, light refreshments and more. If you purchase a ribbon, you can attend the event and place the name of whom it is in honor of or in memory of right on the ribbon itself. If you cannot attend, it will be placed for you.

Although there is no fee for viewing or participating in the broadcasts, BACCA will provide an option for viewers to make a donation during the concerts and workshops.

The contributions will then be used to support arts and cultural events on Long Island through BACCA’s programming.

Our 2020 Line-Up features local and regional acts as well as national touring artists. The Saturday evening shows will be presented as prerecorded concerts, but each will be paired with live commentary by the band members via the Zoom

Setting The Stage To Sell

Your home will sell.There’s no question about that - In today’s market or tomorrow’s, good or bad. However, if you put your home on the market without preparing it for sale, you may have a long wait for an offer or you may not realize your homes Top value.

You don’t have to turn your pockets inside out to get it ready to sell. Some outlay may be necessary for painting, for replacing worn woodwork, carpeting. cabinet doors, or for repairing broken fixtures or appliances.

There are, however many fix-ups that cost absolutely nothing except a little time and elbow grease. These fix-ups will make all the difference in whether or not your home makes the most of itself.

Spruce up all around the home. Keep lawn and shrubbery trimmed and free of bicycles and other clutter. Keep the garden beds weeded and mulched.

Clean off your outdoor furniture; remove any rust (or toss out the rusted item).
