Kids Need More, Long Island’s premier 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children coping with cancer and life threatening illnesses, is proud to announce their 8th Annual HoLiDAY CHEER BUS Elf Ride taking place Sunday, December 18th, 2022.
For the eighth year in a row, KiDS NEED MoRE’s HoLiDAY CHEER BUS ELF RiDE’s buses stocked with toy-delivering elves will drive directly to homes all over Long Island to make wishes come true for over 1,000 children coping with cancer and serious illness.
“We started this event knowing that all parents feel the pressure to make the season magical for their children, but when families are stressed with medical visits, painful treatments, and financial burdens, taking part in holiday festivities

KiDS NEED MoRE will have a fleet of over 40 buses with over 20 volunteer elves on each vehicle delivering holiday wishes for kids coping with lifethreatening illnesses and their siblings this year, in the hopes that parents and caregivers do not have to pay anything for the holidays. Many of the volunteers are survivors or bereaved family members themselves. One bus will also be delivering to New Jersey families on Saturday, December 10th, 2022.
The rest of the fleet will be delivering all across Long Island, NYC, and one bus in CT Sunday, 12/18 beginning at 9:30 AM and going into the evening until all the gifts have been delivered. The Holiday Cheer Bus Elf Ride always takes place the Sunday before Christmas each year.

who would like to join in the celebration.
How to Help
KiDS NEED MoRE is recruiting community partners for this year’s event to sponsor buses and collect toys, volunteers to bring joy and merriment, and seeking referrals of local families to gift. Looking to do something special with your friends and family this season? Sign up to be an elf! We also welcome businesses to partner with us. It’s a wonderful workplace team building activity. You can collect toys and gifts, and then, on December 18th 2022, join as a team and deliver the gifts, sing carols and spread joy all over Long Island with us! Buses leave from 600 Albany Avenue, Amityville and the Miller Place area.

Storm season is here in New York, is your home ready to withstand the elements this year? There are a lot of precautions homeowners can take to make sure their homes are ready to combat the storms that come our way. The most important aspect of your home that you need to check is your roof. Make sure that all shingles and components on your roof are not compromised. This means checking the shingles to see if any are loose or if any are blown off. If you do see that your roof needs work you must get this fixed as soon as possible. The strong rains and winds from storms will cause leaks in your roof which will lead to the structure of your home rotting and cause leaks that may make their way into your home. The next aspect of your home you should check is your gutters. Make sure they are cleaned, and water is able to fill up and be diverted away from your house. Make sure that the downspouts to your gutters are pointed away from the foundation of your home and are clear for water to flow through easily. If gutters are not able to keep a constant flow of water away from your home the facia that the gutters are attached to will rot and your gutters may fall off due to the excessive water that is filling them and the weakened fascia that is caused by the excessive water damage. Finally, make sure that all of your windows and doors are able to lock & are air-tight so no water is able to infiltrate through these openings. You may also want to check your window wells if you have them. Make sure that the soil is loose and able to absorb water, so no flooding can occur. The Charity of the Month for December is EAC Network

EAC Network is a non-profit organization that empowers, assists and cares for individuals in need. Their objective is to reach individuals within our community through innovative programs that improve quality of life. This organization has five service areas: Children & Youth, Family & Community, Senior & Nutrition Services, Vocational Services & Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice Services. Within those five areas of service, they run a total of 103 programs and they assist over 50,000 people a year with offices in all five boroughs, Suffolk County, Nassau County and Rockland County.
EAC Network runs the New Path Treatment Center, which is an outpatient clinic located in Hempstead. The center offers a recovery process in a safe and full-service treatment program for individuals with substance abuse disorders.
Approximately 22.7 million Americans need treatment for drug or alcohol-related problems, and many will not seek treatment due to the stigma and shame associated with substance use disorders. The New Path Treatment Center is a place where trained and compassionate counselors work tirelessly to assist people in need. They address not only substance use itself, but all of its contributing factors, including mental health, physical health, family systems, socialization, smoking cessation, legal issues and employment. A personal treatment plan is developed for each individual to address their specific needs.

is possible and is a life-long journey, we can help to reduce the stigma of substance use and mental health disorders.
Our role at New Path is to assist individuals to achieve and maintain their recovery goals. Our services follow a recovery model whereby participants are encouraged to develop their intrinsic motivation to make healthy lifestyle choices.”
