LI Against Domestic Violence
The Town Of Babylon & Suffolk County Law Enforcement Agencies Unite For Kickball For A Cause To Combat Domestic Violence
LI Against Domestic Violence (LIADV) is partnering with the Town of Babylon and Suffolk County Law Enforcement Agencies for a unique event - Kickball for a Cause: Battle of the Badges. The event, taking place September 27th at Venetian Shores Park in Lindenhurst, kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is intended to raise awareness of domestic violence; an issue that impacts thousands of adults, children & companion animals throughout Suffolk County each year.
LIADV has been providing essential services to survivors for over 48 years by offering a 24-hour hotline, shelter services, court and precinct advocacy services, counseling, and vocational advocacy services. The organization also focuses on prevention through educational programming in both schools and businesses.
Kickball for a Cause is a shining example of LIADV’s commitment to raising awareness and
“Kickball for a Cause is not just a game, but a powerful statement of unity” said Wendy Linsalata, Executive Director of LI Against Domestic Violence. “We are so appreciative of the support of Babylon Town Councilman Terence McSweeney & the Town of Babylon. We are joining forces with our longtime partners to bring light to the often-hidden issue of domestic violence”.
building community partnerships to address this pressing issue.
“I’m excited to collaborate with LIADV to support fundraising efforts for individuals facing difficult circumstances. By empowering victims and survivors, offering them shelter and assistance, and collaborating with law enforcement, we can ensure they know there is help available” said Babylon Town Councilman Terrence McSweeney.
“Domestic violence casts a long shadow across our communities, often hidden behind closed doors. This kickball event shines a vital light on an issue that demands our attention and action. By coming together as
a community, we send a powerful message that abuse will not be tolerated, and help is available. I commend L.I. Against Domestic Violence for their tireless efforts to raise awareness and provide resources to those in need” said District Attorney Ray Tierney.
“The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office is proud to have a strong partnership with LI Against Domestic Violence and honored to support their vital work. Domestic violence remains a critical issue in our community that is often shrouded in silence. Events like this kickball tournament play a crucial role in raising awareness and bringing our community together to confront this problem.
I encourage everyone to come out, support this important cause, and cheer on our dedicated law enforcement officers and our LIADV partners,” said Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr.
“Domestic Violence involves a cycle of abuse that not only impacts the victim but the entire family—often occurring quietly behind closed doors. The Department’s Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau works tirelessly to ensure domestic incidents are addressed through a comprehensive approach of both enforcement and outreach so victims receive justice and services. I commend LI Against Domestic Violence for hosting Kickball for
a Cause, bringing law enforcement together to raise awareness for this crime that has too many suffering in silence” said Acting Suffolk County Police Commissioner Robert Waring. Come out and cheer for your favorite team! Admission is $10 per person (free for those 12 and under). Together, we can take a stand against domestic violence and make a difference in the lives of thousands who are impacted by this serious public health crisis. Venetian Shores Park is located at 850 Venetian Blvd. Lindenhurst. For more information on how you can support LIADV and to purchase tickets to Kickball for a Cause, please visit www. liadv.org.
A New Season Is Here!
Change is one of the few constants in life. And, as the seasons change, so too can our living situations. Whether it’s welcoming a new addition to the family, downsizing, or simply seeking a change of scenery, autumn often brings about thoughts of our homes and where we want to be.
If you’re thinking about making a change that includes buying or selling a home, please feel free to call or email me. I’m happy to offer my expertise and guidance for any of your real estate needs.
In the meantime, here are a few tips to help you stay warm this fall.
• Consider weather-stripping windows and doors to keep drafts at bay.
• Clean out your gutters to prevent ice dams.
• Install a smart thermostat to manage your home’s temperature efficiently.
• Have your furnace checked, and stock up on firewood for cooler nights by the fireplace or outdoor firepit.
Have a wonderful and fulfilling autumn season. I hope to see all of you around town!
