STUDENTS CONNECT - Throughout August, Copiague School District conducted a variety of different sports camps for students of all ages and skill levels. Students learned basic skills, while also getting in physical activity and connecting with their peers. Field hockey camp ran for two separate weeks for students in grades 8-12. Soccer clinics were available throughout different morning timeslots for students in grades 3-8 and 9-12, and tennis camp was offered for elementary, middle and high school students. The Town of Babylon’s 1st Harbor Master, Fred “Fritz” Fricano was recognized by the Babylon Town Board as Supervisor Schaffer, Councilmen

Terence McSweeney, and DuWayne Gregory presented him with a proclamation at Cedar Beach Marina. Mr. Fricano was the Harbor Master from 1975 until he retired

in 1999. Brought to Cedar by two of his children

Melissa and Dan, under the guise of a day at the marina, he was surprised to see Tim Taylor who succeeded him as harbor master (but retired in December), and the current harbor master Artie Smith. They were joined by the Town’s Bay Constables and Public Safety. For his service

to our community and service in the US Army during the Korean War, Mr. Fricano was also presented with red, white, and blue roses. Supervisor Schaffer announced that the Town would be retiring his badge, and a plaque would be placed at the Cedar Beach Marina to honor him.

EXPLORING NEW INTERESTS - For students looking to hone certain skill sets, learn a new craft or just connect with friends during the summer, Copiague School District hosted a variety of summer camps for middle school students at the Copiague Middle School in July. Copiague Appoints Two To Administrative Team

Copiague School District has named two new administrators this July. Dr. Jonathan Krawchuk has been named the district’s executive director of technology, data and assessment, and Devon Ray joins the district in a new position as the coordinator of athletics.

Dr. Krawchuk has been with the Copiague School District since 2006. He most recently served as an assistant principal at Copiague Middle School. Prior to that, he was an

assistant principal at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. Before taking on administrative roles, Dr. Krawchuk was a living environment teacher and a special education teacher.

Dr. Krawchuk has a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s College and a master’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He received his doctorate in instructional leadership from St. John’s University.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the owner of two dogs is looking for a foster. She is presently living in her car, but is actively seeking employment and a new home. She is urgently trying to find an individual to temporarily care for both until she is able to do so again properly.

Wolf is a 10 year old Husky and Kay is a 5 year old Texas Heeler Mix. They are very attached to one another, therefore the foster must be willing to take both. They are friendly, trained, up to date on all shots, good with children and are spayed/neutered. Wolfie does well with all
