friends and family gathered in the school’s auditorium to honor the soon-to-be graduates with scholarships and awards for their hard work and dedication to their school and community during the past 13 years.

Shawn Smaldon, Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Principal Joseph Agosta welcomed guests to the ceremony and praised the students for their accomplishments thus far. “As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, remember the values and

lessons you have learned during your time here,” he said. “Continue to pursue your passions, embrace new challenges and never lose sight of your dreams. You can achieve anything you set your mind to, and tonight is just the beginning of the incredible journey that lies ahead.”

Mr. Agosta also thanked those who supported the students along the way for their unwavering love and guidance, including friends, family and all of those in the Copiague School District. More than $90,000 in local, memorial and organizational scholarships were presented to the seniors. To close out the evening, Mr. Agosta presented awards to the top 10 students in the Class of 2024.

Student-Artists Learn The Art Of Printing Process

THE ART OF PRINTING PROCESS - Student-artists at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District learned a new technique during a recent lesson in Ms. McLaughlin’s art classes. As part of a lesson on the printing process, the students learned how to create jelly plate prints which uses a gelatinbased ink. Following a lesson on the tools used during the printing process, the students rolled out the ink on the plates to create different textures and lines. The National External Diploma Program offers adults 21 and over, the opportunity to receive credit for their life experiences, and earn a high school equivalency diploma without the challenge of taking lengthy timed examinations. NEDP, is a competency based program for students who are unable to attend classes or who prefer to work at home. Successful candidates for NEDP include former ESL students, students who have been out of school for prolonged periods of time, or students who fare better without the structure of tests. This program is an alternative to other programs.

criminal underground where identities are bought and sold and instantly alerts you if your Social Security number or up to 10 credit card or debit card numbers are posted by thieves. The service also scans online directories and search engines, prime sources for spammers and thieves, letting you know where your information is available, and provides advice on how to remove it.
