Beach Blast Fun Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer invited residents to Overlook Beach on Saturday, August 19th, for the Town’s annual Beach Blast. The event featured live music, rafﬂes for charity, rides, games and even an ice cream-eating contest. The weather made for a picture-perfect day for the Beach Blast this year.

Beachgoers lined Overlook for a late-summer visit to the ocean and pitched tents, stuck umbrellas in the sand and of course took a swim in the water. The Town of Babylon lifeguard staff helped keep everyone safe while enjoying the waves. Over twenty children competed in this year’s ice-cream eating contest as they were cheered on by friends,

family and other residents. Winners were awarded by age group. After dark, the festivities concluded with a fireworks display, a staple of the Beach Blast. Residents looked up and enjoyed the colorful display, which served as a proper sendoff to the 2017 summer season.

Calling all poetry lovers and writers! Join the Babylon Village Arts Council for their monthly poetry reading in an open mic format. It is held the first Thursday of each month at Jack Jack’s Coffee House on Deer Park Avenue. I took a stroll recently to visit a few old friends, and look in on some newer finds. I popped in on The Country Peddler and found some unique home décor pieces. over by the former Babylon Theater to satisfy my always ravenous sweet tooth. At the corner of Fire Island Avenue, The Crushed Olive was next for some gourmet ingredients for culinary adventures. I wandered down Fire Island Avenue and met Theresa at The Boutique, a charming shop featuring beautifully unique fashions and accessories. Then I crossed the street to browse a wonderful selection of vintage finds at F&M Goods. I finished up with my favorite coffee at The Babylon Bean next door. Most of us reading this column have memories of Hurricane Sandy, and many people are still rebuilding from it all.

The failure of Purchaser to appear ready, willing and able to pay the balance of the purchase price within 45 days from the date of sale is a material default under the tenns of sale.
