Babylon Village Arts Council, a not-for-profit organization, has offered various cultural programs throughout the summer. The summer program kicked off with the Summer Concert at the Conklin House, featuring The Amigos Band, in which over 150 community members enjoyed their lively music on the Conklin House lawn. Over 300 Long Islanders

of all ages participated in Puppets In The Park by Wonderpuppets Productions. For the first time, BVAC offered three free onehour art experiences at the Babylon pool. Youngsters created duct tape purses, collages, stencil art and shell paintings. Edward Lee, illustrator, instructed 12 eager artists at the Conklin House. BVAC’s mission is to

Vision Of Hope

Babylon Town Councilman Tom Donnelly and State Assemblyman Robert Sweeney recently recognized members of Girl Scout Troop #382 and the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition for their work in beautifying the Vision of Hope Garden, located on the southeast corner of Town Hall Park. As part of the clean-up effort, the scouts joined volunteers to clean up and plant flowers at the Breast Cancer Bow area of the garden. With their hard work, these volunteers helped beautify a part of our community and raised

awareness regarding the work that the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition does for those inflicted with the horrible disease, as well as survivors. Councilman Donnelly and Assemblyman Sweeney thanked the volunteers for their hard work and presented them with honorary certificates. This beautification effort was undertaken as part of Global Youth Service Day, which is a worldwide celebration of community service and civic engagement. These volunteers earned Global Youth Service Day

Past projects have included helping non-profit organizations through food drives and monetary donations, collecting food for the needy, visiting local senior citizens centers, making holiday baskets for hospitalized children, conducting community clean-up efforts and assisting local veterans groups in need.
