Music With A Mission

Farmingdale High School Marching Band Performs For Sunrise Day Camp Fundraiser Members of the Farmingdale High School Marching Band recently volunteered their time and talents at the Henry Kaufman Campground in Wheatley Heights. The students performed

to support the annual fundraising walk for Sunrise Day Camp, an organization dedicated to providing free summer camp experiences for children with cancer and their siblings. The studentmusicians started the day by

leading the opening leg of the walk, later repositioning to the finish line to play energetic music that celebrated and motivated every participant who crossed. After completing their performance, the

students joined the community to enjoy the post-walk festivities, which included food, drink, and carnival games. “We were honored and excited when the walk organizers asked us to return for another year,”

said Band Director Matthew DeMasi. “It is a blessing to be able to provide music for this event and bring energy and smiles to all of the participants!” This meaningful collaboration highlights the district’s

Bay is proud to partner with Big Hy for Heroes for our Annual DVD Collection Drive and send thousands of DVDs to troops serving around the globe as well as to children receiving care in local hospitals. Help support these brave men, women and children by donating DVDs.” The Big Hy for Heroes organization was founded in 2002 by Massapequa resident and WWII veteran Hyman Strachman who, along with his son Arthur Strachman, personally began sending DVDs to U.S. troops overseas.
